During my weight loss, I was treating myself to a Subway veggie sub each Monday before weigh-in. However, someone from the weight loss support group brough in someone from Health Canada who spoke on salt intake, and after that presentation I swore I would never, ever eat from Subway ever again.
My foot-long veggie sub, even without the cheese, has more sodium than what a person should have in a day. In April Subway claimed that for heart health reasons, they were cutting the salt in their bread by 15% to 30%. Great. Now a foot long ham sub won't be 2600mg of salt, but ONLY 1700. Given that we are only supposed to have 1500 in a day, there is absolutely no way that you can categorize a Subway sandwich as "healthy".
That all said, I voted for the guy.... I love hearing other weight loss success stories. The more people that stand up and say "this can be done", the more people will actually try to do it.
