All I can get
|
Installed this at home over the weekend and am finding it a rather painless upgrade. No conflicts so far.
The new Spotlight feature is blazingly fast and a vast improvement over previous incarnations of the Finder. Dashboard has some nice knick-knacks, and I'm looking forward to setting up some macros in the Automator feature.
Impressive upgrade. If you're an Apple aficionado, run, don't walk to your local Apple dealer.

it totally fataed up my fonts, although that might have something to do with Suitcase, which is always rather homo gay.
other than that, its not bad. i quite like the spotlight feature, and the dashboard stuff is kinda cool (although i dont think ill be using it that much once the novelty wears off)

I've been playing around with it at work for the last few days...I like it so far, but I'm reserving final judgement until I've put it in production and have to support hundreds of users running it for a few months. As long as it doesn't break any of our apps (Quark, Photoshop, etc.) I'll be pleased.

You don't like Suitcase!?! I love Suitcase. That font management software they include with the OS is a nightmare.

I'm thinking of getting a Mac Mini to see what the fuss is about

Mac minis are great. We got one when my girlfriend took her G4 to her office, and it's a powerful little machine. I've put a few games on here like Unreal Tournament 2004, and it runs it really smoothly. The only thing I'd recommend is that the hard drive speed is a tad slow, so if you're considering paying money to get a larger harddrive put in, get an external firewire drive. The firewire speed will actually be faster than the harddrive.
I'm looking forward to Tiger; I'll probably go down and get a copy in the next week or so.

I hate them both. Fontbook I just deleted right off the bat, but Suitcase is always screwing around with my fonts. And the problem is there is no real fix....sometimes you just restart a few times and it fixes it. It reminds of a PC too much, its so random.

Sounds like its some corrupt fonts more than it is suitcase. Throw out any damaged/corrupt fonts and put all of your fonts in one folder on your hard drive. When you get fonts from another source, copy them to that folder as well. Thats all we do and it works flawlessly, and I get different fonts from all over hell's half acre.
