Florida signs Jessica Lunsford Act

The Jessica Lunsford Act sets a mandatory sentence of 25 years to life in prison for people convicted of molesting children under 12. If offenders serve less than life, they would be required to wear a global positioning system device after their release so authorities can monitor their whereabouts.

I wonder why its limited to Sex Offenders only? Why not Murderers?

I don't know, but it could be because sex-offenders are _very_ likely to repeat the offense, regardless of prison time/counselling.

I don't believe murderers have the same 'cannot-be-cured' tag that sex-offenders have. Molestation/Rape is also seen as-bad-or-worse than murder, so its not surprising to see it treated harshly.

the reasoning for murder can vary as well. "He was sleeping with my wife" wouldn't really warrant the GPS as the motive is gone once the murder takes place. Raping a child isn't really the same motive.

Serial killer, random killing, cold bludded acts then yes, but I wouldn't think all murder.

I think he was asking why not have the same penalty for murdering children....

I fully agree with this kind of sentence. It's about time that the children of the world are protected to this extent.
