Not really sure how someone on the internet can give you the odds of getting an STD.
It all depends on who you are sleeping with.
And the quickest way not to get laid is to ask a girl if she's got an STD.

The odds of getting an STD are pretty low, but I guess that is little consolation to people who do get one.
I slept with dozens of women and rarely used protection and have never had anything. That ended though when I had an HIV scare and had to get tested a few times before I could conclusively say I was clean. The approximately 2 years of hypochondria, paranoia and anxiety is totally not worth it though, so just wrap it up and save yourself the grief.

If you're going to sleep with a girl you just met, use a condom (probably a good idea to use them with girls you do know until you know they've been tested). Think about this: if a girl is willing to sleep with you despite hardly knowing you, she's probably willing to sleep with other guys too. So there's a good chance she's been around the block.
In Canada, the odds of man getting HIV from vaginal sex are very low. About half of HIV cases in Canada are gay men and many of the remaining are intra-venous drug users. However, that doesn't change the fact that it does happen and the consequences are devastating. Why would anyone ever sleep with random peopel without a condom.

I think a lot of the time, alcohol is a factor. When you're drinking, you tend to throw caution to the wind. And let's be honest here... condom sex is crappy sex. I can't speak for women, but for guys, it really takes away from it. Might as well masturbate. Especially if you already have kinky appetites, the last thing you want is to diminish the sensation.
