My face is a bum!

I am almost considering taking Stoney to 16th coming home from the far NW because Crowchild is such an absolute piece of Stajan right now.

Can't you have the city pay for any damages caused by pot holes?

I'm not sure, I never looked into it. It was 5 am and I was on my way to Nisku so I was more worried about getting there. Probably a little late now though.

The stretch of Crowchild from Brentwood Station to Crowfoot is going to be a massive problem for the city. It's more than filling potholes and repaving. The entire roadway needs to be ripped up, levelled and redone. I'd have to think there's some sort of 'warranty' on behalf of the construction companies that do this work. Whoever did this job clearly didn't go through the proper processes, even with settling and frost problems, etc, there's something really wrong with it. And they've already done 2 repairs on the same spot around Brentwood mall.

People have been successful in getting the city to cover damages in the past yes. But it's not easy and take A LOT of persistence and patience.... working with the city to resolve anything is a PITA.

In my driving areas the worst spots have definitely been these two:
-McKnight right around the airport/McCall lake golf course
-Crowchild between Crowfoot and Brentwood mall (especially around Shaganappi when eastbound)
I'm making a point of slowing down to about 60 or so when hitting those bumps on Crowchild, they are brutal!

Still night and day better than Red Deer or Edmonton. They have open pit mines in their roads.

Pot holes are bad because of the thaw and then freeze cycles we go through. Water gets through the cracks, and then expands one it freezes, and creates a pot hole. Just something we have to deal with with our climate.

I think sometimes the crews for the city cause these potholes in their trucks. You can actually see the sparks flying off the road when they clear some neighborhoods. Obviously this is worse because of what you've described above.

The section of McKnight between 12th and 19th Streets was absolutely brutal a while back, it felt like you were driving on a giant washboard. They have since filled in most of the dips, but I get a feeling that once it warms up, the freeze thaw will turn the patches into gravel.
Also to note that McKnight is going to have a significant traffic increase starting next week (at least 30% IMO)

Very true. There's a section of road as you leave the north side of Edmonton on highway 15 that is like drving on waves. Makes me nauseous.

That's not what causes problems such as those on Crowchild. It's a piss poor job of laying down a proper road bed.
I think I noticed the train tracks are messed up there too? (I noticed some odd temporary signs beside the tracks). Frinkprof, any idea if there are slowdowns there?
