Default The Town

Anybody else excited for this flick? I am not a huge fan of the typical "action" movie but have been intrigued by the previews for "The Town" for the past few weeks and the early reviews all sound very good. Personally I have always liked Affleck, this could be a big comeback movie for him.

Yeah. Basing everything on the previews I've seen but I am looking forward to it, too.

Really like Jon Hamm, so will definitely be seeing this. I don't like how in the preview, it says "from acclaimed director of Gone Baby Gone". When did Ben Affleck become an acclaimed director?? I liked Gone Baby Gone, but wasn't blown away or anything.

Will be there for sure on Friday.

Affleck's first step into the director's chair yielded the excellent "Gone Baby Gone" from a few years ago.

Been looking forward to this movie not only because of it's setting, actors and plot but because I'm excited to see Affleck direct another film.

Acclaimed may be a strong word considering his body of work (or lack thereof) but I thought Gone Baby Gone was very well written and directed and IMO if this movie is able to equal it, Affleck will be well on his way to becoming an acclaimed director.

Had to google the trailer but I recognized it as soon as Draper showed his face, was played at the start of Inception.

Looks good. I'll probably see it

Yep, would totally agree with that. When I first saw the preview at Inception, it just seemed odd to me to call him acclaimed.

i dont like how the trailer shows Affleck taking off his mask in the van. Seems like its giving away a very important plot point.

So, anyone seen it yet?

It is up to an amazing 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes right now, pretty impressive considering Inception sits @ 87%. I am going tommorow, I will post my opinion when I get back...cannot wait!

I just saw it this afternoon, great movie. Blake Lively is hot, even as a crack whore.

I keep hearing good things about... which is surprising, because Ben Affleck is usually horrible.

Well, maybe (some of) his acting is horrible, but with this movie garnering the reviews it is, I think you now have to consider him a pretty darn good director (albeit with a small body of work).

I can't stand Ben Affleck and I will be seeing this movie. I think he's a pretty marginal actor, but maybe he will find his calling as a director.

I am looking forward to seeing this flick too. Loved Gone Baby Gone, it was well done and understated.

Saw this movie. Slower then I thought it would be, but it was a good movie. Affleck did a great job.

Just got back from it. Wasn't blown away by any stretch, but it was a good crime thriller, which is probably my favorite genre of film. Thoght Affleck did a great job with the screenplay and direction, and he was half decent with his role. Jeremy Renner was the best of the bunch, that also included Jon Hamm(aka Don Draper).

The story was good. Thought some of the scenes early on seemed a tad rushed, but they were still quite believeable. The heist scenes really reminded me of Heat. The camera movement and the slick music. Heat had Pacino vs Deniro so it was always going to be tough to top that. Not that Affleck was trying to do that, but he was able to keep up the suspense pretty good.

A solid 7/10. Would definitely reccomend it to anyone that likes these kids of flicks.

It's not too big of a deal since most people will forget that by the time they see the film. Your post reminding us, on the other hand...

I can't wait to see this movie, I have been keeping my eye on it for the last 4 months or so when talk about it first started heating up. Will hopefully see it this weekend.
