Don't believe me?

Check out a few insider sources at Esksfans.com

Mobley and Jed Roberts are kind of confirming it.

The Eskimos sent an email to the Esksfans.com administrators, displeased with confidential information being leaked out.

The Esks just got wayyyyyy better B-)

MOD title edit for clarity. [Why did you add the question marks....it's a done deal. Singor Mobley confirmed on esksfans that their is a press Conference on Tuesday]

Its all over the sports radio station up here as well. The report is coming from San Diego and basically the Esks are signing Flutie because Maas is about to undergo season ending surgery. I am not sure if there is any truth to the story.

It could also be an April fools joke.

Too many people to be involved in it. Jed Roberts, Mobley, respected esksfans.com administrators, Eskimos organization who sent an email of displeasure.

It was rumoured 3 days ago that Maas's re-hab wasn't going well, and that he'll need another surgery.

I really doubt it's April Fools...

This is the first news that his re-hab is not going well, from all other reports from media here in Edmonton, Maas has been recovering quite nicely.

In other news, the NHL and Players Association have just agreed on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement...

Seriously though, I thought he was destined for Hamilton??? What happened with that?

Maas was to begin throwing this week.

Apparently he was still in pain, according to an insider on esksfans.com .

Jed Roberts, an alumni Esk, posts on that messageboard confirmed it.

Of course the media has no clue about it....yet. I imagine there will be something in the papers tommorow.

It is a factor.

Money can't really be an issue, since Hamilton would be willing to pay up for Flutie.

Maybe Edmonton just offered more than Hamilton was willing to in the end.

I mean, Flutie's very near the end of his career, it would not be wise to shell out a whack of money for him at this stage. Perhaps the Esks offered just that little bit extra, to add up to something that maybe the Ti-Cats would have seen as a financial risk.

Who knows, but I'd have to think money was definitely an issue.

Maybe is. Maybe not.

In the end, this does put the Eskimos as favourites to win the GC

Also, based on the article, Flutie's family will continue to live in San Deigo. Edmonton's not that far from San Deigo via plane.

Edmonton (reportedly) adds a QB who has appeared in all of 10 games in the last 3 years, and automatically are considered a Grey Cup favourite? I doubt it. Not to mention the fact that he's 43 in October.

He still looked great in the games last year.

He hasn't played much, but talent just doesn't go away.

He's 42, but look at Allen and McManus. They are still playing the game. One just won a GC.

Eskimos are definitely a better team, if this news is true.

Better on paper, yes, but we've all seen how far that gets you.

I don't doubt that he is still a good QB, but guys like Allen and McManus have been playing big games for their clubs their whole careers. For the last few seasons, Flutie has been, for the most part, riding the pine.

I don't care how good you are, if you're not playing the big games, you're not going to be as honed in, mentally or physically.

If the Esks are counting on Flutie to lead them to the Grey Cup, that puts him under a lot of pressure. Especially when the guy has seen no game action recently.

That's the wild card, IMO. There's a big potential reward for Edmonton, but an equally large risk. If they win it all, great for them and great for Dougie. But a lot has to go right for them. They are taking a gamble on Flutie, no question.

I guess we'll find out exactly how big of a risk it is (financially) if and when this press conference happens.

Well I just talked on the phone with the local football reporter who has his own late night show on the all sports radio, and he says it is an april fools joke. But I guess we never know until Flutie signs somewhere.

The Press Conference according to Mobley is on Tuesday.

We'll see what happens.

Question for you Stamps fans: Would you take Flutie or Burris today?

Which QB do you think would give you a better shot at the Grey Cup?

Its an interesting question

I'm assuming that you don't want us to consider long-term impact otherwise I take Burris every day of the week and twice on Sunday, because he's so much younger.

However - if we are just looking at one season - who gives you a better chance to win...Flutie or Burris.

Not sure - Flutie is a dynamic talent but he hasn't played much. Burris could be ready to put it all together.

But I take Flutie for a single season because he's so entertaining to watch.

That being said, I think you are setting yourself up for a dissapointment. Smells like a April Fool's Joke to me.

I'm going to call elaborate April Fools joke on this (it's been going on for a few days now). The ONLY reports have been directly from unsubstantiated sources on esksfans.com. And I bet Jed Roberts is in on it too.

To win the grey cup this season I would take Flutie, but overall I would rather choose Burris if I had the choice to sign one this season.
