Default Calgary date ideas needed

I'm not sure if a online forum is the best place for such advice haha, but my girlfrend is leaving for Mexico on Wednesday for a few weeks so I'm looking for someone to point me in the direction of a good restaurant to take her to before she goes.
We are heading to zoo lights afterwards so it would be nice to find a place in that area. I don't mind a fairly high-end place but I am still a student so yeah.
What is pricing like at the Calgary tower?

Any help is much appreciated.

I will second Open Range. It is a short drive from there to the Zoo.

Appetizers $8-14
Salads $10
Entrees $14-36, average is ~$27.50

Reading up a bit on Open Range it says it's primarily a steakhouse. Obviously there are alternatives right? The lady isn't too keen on beef.

Jacqueline Suzannes Bistro is apparently the place to go to if you're in Inglewood. Urban Spoon and other online review sites rate it well and my sister raves about it.

..And it is a short walk to the zoo!

If you guys are into sushi/japanese food, I would highly recommend Sushi Zipang in Bridgeland (short drive over to the zoo).

We've been to the Calgary Tower restaurant (360 Grill?) recently and did not enjoy the nausea of the floor movement or the unruly children that were rolling on the floor a few tables over. The kid issue probably belongs in the WGMG thread but none of the workers or management bothered to fix the problem for us or the other patrons affected.

Back on topic - Rouge is a fantastic place as well...and it is even closer to the zoo than Jacueline Suzannes! 1 block west of Spolumbo's Deli.

Couple ideas:

- Bion Giorno or Fiore's on 17th. Both are relatively cheap, good Italian food
- Village Cantina in Inglewood
- La Dolce Vita in Bridgeland.
- Mykonos on Centre Street

Don't know what your price range is but these are all not too bad.

Went to this Moroccan restaurant a few weeks back and it had a really nice intimate atmosphere:

Fondue is great for dates:

(havn't been myself, recommended by others)

Also heard great things about taking a cooking class here:

Fun, interactive, paired with wine and takes up a few hours. Although I think zoo lights shuts at 9PM, so this might not get you there in time.

If you two are into seafood, Big Fish off Edmonton Trail is good...especially considering it's in a landlocked place like Calgary

Even better (And you don't even need to go to zoolights, spend the evening enjoying the christmas display downstairs):

Honestly, I just ate at open range a couple of weeks ago and I found the food to be vastly over rated based on the price. While the atmosphere was ok, I left feeling a little ripped off on the cost of the meal and the quality of the food.

If your going to go all the way, I agree with the recommendation of Teatro on the mall downtown, but you will pay for it.

I think he is looking for something a bit cheaper lol.
If you want to go real cheap Chiantis isnt to bad and im not sure what when but it seems like every second day is a cheaper than cheap day.
La Luna Rosa has their new location on Edmonton Trail which is close to the zoo. Authentic Italian and isnt to bad on pricing.

Steak recommendations are risky; lots of girls don't like eating a lot of red meat or steaks in particular.
Being it's your GF I guess you'll already know what she likes, but for anyone else reading this and thinking of where to go for first dates/early dates, -1 for the Steak house recommendations.
