The LA Kings have traded Ryan Getzlaf and Joey Leach to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Ryan Kesler, Calvin De Haan, and a 2nd round pick in 2011.

The LA Kings are excited to add another very competent 2 way skater in Ryan Kesler. Our team has the depth to score as many goals as needed to win games but come playoff time, we wanted to make sure we had more players who can contribute at both ends of the ice.

It was also critical to aquire De Haan as I could no longer handle clicking on his link on the Ducks roster page only to have no HockeyDB link available; this will be corrected promptly.

BTW there were a few very inticing offers, a couple of which would have surprised most of the league's GMs. Thanks to all GMs who made an offer, you have no idea how close a couple of you came.

Getzlaf is a star but I don't think Kesler is. However, I would put him in the elite category as he is an elite defensive forward.

I like the deal for the Ducks.

We like the top end potential of Getzlaf and think he will make a very good #1 C. These were some fun talks and we are glad to finally get the guy we've been after for a while!

Kesler played well, is good defensively but is a Canuck so I won't be sad seeing him go.
