Default Simpsons renewed for another season

http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2010...enewed-23.html

Ok so yeah.. not a huge fan of this. I feel that the series has run its course about 15 years ago but whatever. My question is what are you favourite simpsons episodes? More importantly, what was the best season? For me it's clearly season 4. Kamp Krusty, the monorail, whacking day, the dental plan episode, and homers new religion. Almost every episode was a classic... it's actually amazing reading the wiki for it.

Season 4 highlights:

It's funny to go back and look at when the Simpsons peaked and when they started to go downhill.

I think they peaked during the two part (last episode of season 6, first episode of season 7) Who Shot Mr Burns story. They had the world by the balls then. After season 7 it started to dwindle, they still had some classics (You Only Move Twice is my favourite along with s4 Marge vs the Monrail) but the great episodes didn't come nearly as much after that.

I think I stopped watching the Simpsons with any regularity since 1999/2000.

They really do suck now, but at it's peak, it was some of the best writing television has ever seen. At it's peak it was the best.

So many amazing episodes, I am a huge fan of the early seasons, I haven't watched a new episode in a few years.

One of my favorites, Max Power!

Marge: But I fell in love with Homer Simpson. I don't wanna snuggle with Max Power.
Homer: Nobody snuggles with Max Power. You strap yourself in and feel the Gs!

and

Let the Bear's pay the bear tax, I pay the Homer tax.

I would have to say that the Max Power episode was one of the strongest that they've ever done.

Sadly watching the Simpsons is like playing hockey after your 10th concussion, somebody really needs to tell you to stop.

They need to stop making the Simpsons.

I disagree entirely. The Simpsons has gotten much better the last 3-5 years. It certainly doesn't match the peak seasons now, but it's once again a good show worthy of another year.

The entire Al Jean era has been a bit odd. I personally prefer other heads running the show, but he has gotten better the last 2 years.

I don't watch it anymore but what I do see is still much, much better than Two And A Half Men.

It's still hilarious as ever. The problem is that it is now getting compared to the Family Guy. The episodes now still hold up to back whenever people claim it was great it's just that they aren't breaking new ground. With that said, I don't watch it very often, only out of fluke.

Just as funny as season 4? That's a ludicrous statement, no offence.

The Simpsons really hasn't been the same since Phil Hartman died.

Sad, but true.

To be honest I don't know season 4 from season 27. You'd have to watch all season's consecutively with a fine tooth comb to know the difference.

I've watched it here and there and it's still funny.

I think the reason people point out certain season's is because Conan O'Brien is en vogue right now.

Then I don't think you're a very serious Simpsons fan.

"Dad, what's a muppet?"

"Well, it's not quite a mop...and not quite a puppet....but ma-ha-n, ha ha ha he he he, so to answer your question I don't know."

I would also agree that The Simpsons hasn't been as funny as I remember. I still really enjoy Homer, though. One of the best characters EVER on television.

To me its not even close to funny anymore, they've run out of ideas and the shows become a parody of itself.

It used to be that I could watch the treehouse of terror and laugh throughout it. this year, really I kinda chuckled a couple of times and thought the episode was flat.

Simpson's is now into SNL territory where the only thing that keeps people from putting bullets into their heads is the fear of killing something that's deeply embedded in T.V. history.

I haven't watched the Simpsons much in the past 5 years. Off the top of my head, I think some of the funniest episodes for me is the one where they go to New York, the one where Homer thought Bart was gay, and the one where Marge has that pretzel business. I'm sure there are other classics that I've forgotten.

I hadn't watched the Simpsons in years until seeing this thread, so I watched a couple of recent episodes online. I don't find it as funny anymore, but a lot of it seemed the same quality to me as it was years back. I just don't relate to the humour as much anymore, but I had a few good laughs during the episodes.
