Red Dead Redemp or COD: Black Ops or Assassins Creed: Brotherhood
So I am looking to pick up another game after finally getting through the last one.
The games I am debating are:
1. Red Dead Redemption: Played most Rock Star games. They do tend to be too long, and being an adult gamer I don't have much time, but I have heard it is worth it.
2. Call of Duty: Black Ops. I am a male with an Xbox. Of course I like COD. usually stayed away from the Treyarch releases, but heard this one is pretty good. Primarily play for single player, but note I am comfortable paying full price for a short game (if it is quality).
3. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Finished #2. Also a long game, but hear it is even better.
Thoughts? I am trying to procastinate here.

1. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
- as an adult gamer, the story line is still quite long BUT it's a very strong narrative that keeps you engaged and pushing forward
- it's better than #2
- if you care, the multiplayer is AMAZING
- probably my game of the year runner-up (Mass Effect 2 = the winner)
2. Red Dead Redemption
- big game, but like all Rockstar games, the narrative, while strong - is less engaging and lends itself to hours upon hours of "misc. stuff" like hunting and poker games.
3. Call of Duty Black Ops
- the single player campaign simply isn't as good as the Infinity Ward stuff.
- feels very much "same ol same ol" when it comes to Call of Duty games. Explosions, scripted events...it's tiresome, and short.

I would go with Assassin's Creed or Red Dead Redemption. Black Ops would be a last option simply because it's a more multiplayer focused game. I have Assassin's Creed but I haven't played it but from what I've read it's supposed to be quite great.
Rockstar released an expansion pack for RDR called RDR Undead Nightmare. You may want to wait on getting RDR as I'm sure they'll release some Game of the Year version in the near future.

It's hard to decide between red dead redemption and assassins creed. Don't get call of duty thought.

I would get Ass Creed now, and play that out. By the time you complete it, RDR will probably be on the $20 greatest hits deal or something at that point.
Never liked the COD series, I find BF better, but thats just me.

I have all three.
I'm a big fan of the COD series, but I guess it's an acquired taste. Pretty standard shoot em up stuff. Personally, I like the story of the Treyarch games. This is Black Ops and World at War, but once again, I may be in the minority.
Between ACB and RDR, I think ACB is the better game. I was actually pretty sick of the RDR by the time I'd completed the story and traded the game in. It got to be repetitive, as all rock star games are. ACB I will keep around just for the multiplayer, and I may go back and redo some solo missions.
The story itself to ACB is really short. The game only gets long if you want to do all the side missions or get 100% synchronization on the missions (mean completed a mission a certain way).
You can always buy Assassin's Creed 2 for about $20 and start with that. No multiplayer, but fun single player (not quite as good as ACB though). In fact, I would recommend doing that just to get caught up on the story.

I have only played RDR, although I have played the first 2 ACs.
Loved RDR, and have yet to get the Undead Nightmare pack. Great story and fun gameplay.
The ACs have a very good story, and the scenery is pretty outstanding. I can only imagine how far they have come with the recent installment.

Red Dead for sure. Might be the best game I've played this generation. Creates an amazing game world and is different from most run of the mill games out there. COD is the same old thing and when I played AC2 I thought it was really overrated. I actually didnt enjoy the story at all. Cool graphics but thats about it -- didnt even think the combat was all that great.
And speaking as a fellow adult gamer, I think Rockstar just gets it when it comes to an engaging dramatic story, with the right level humour mixed in. If you're in the same boat as me and want to use your gaming time wisely, get Red Dead. Its worth every second.

RDR: Loved it. Long story but I found it interesting all the way through. Good bang for your buck!
COD: I have Black Ops but don't play online much. Single player story is great and if you like FPS, you'll like this. Single player mission is on the short side.
Never played AC.

Have COD. Played about half of the single player to get familiar but way too many cut scenes for a "game". I enjoy the multiplayer much more. Not even sure if I will finish the story, which I was not really into.

I must be doing something wrong. I'm male and have an X-Box, but don't like CoD...
I'd take Red Dead. You can play it like any other sandbox game and completely ignore the storyline...or that's at least what I've been doing (Still haven't gotten to Mexico yet...).

What's so amazing about RDR? Everyone told me it was amazing and that if I liked GTA 4, I would definitely like this game. I got it a week after it came out, played it for about 5 hours and got bored.

^Maybe not a fan of the western genre or the settings/environment?
The lighting and weather, and scales of the landscape in this game give it an authenticity and "vibe" that I haven't seen in other games. There's no gimmicky music and bells and whistles either. Just a really class game imo.
And if you do want bells and whistles, the Undead stuff is fracking awesome despite the apparent lack of flaming skull-adorned stage-coaches. But I havent finished the Undead stuff yet so who knows.

If I could thank you all, I would - great critical contributions throughout.
I think I am leaning towards RDR.
- RDR is something a bit different, even if just GTA on a horse. Have a new TV and think this would look pretty damn good on it.
- AC:B is tempting, but I kind of feel like I just finished 2
- COD:BO I will get, but can wait for the next lull
Only have about a month to play though until Deadspace 2 comes out.

Basically this. The biggest adjustement for me was having a horse for transportation rather than a cehicle. You can't grab an AK and a Ferrari and go on a murder rampage, if that is what you have fun with.
If you can get into the western vibe its a blast.
