Horrible story.... but his parents are an inspiration. Their outlook is so refreshing , not wanting to sue anyone . Just wanting to help people around them with it.

R.I.P. Nathan

Well, they did sign the form that acknowledged they knew their son had concussion symptoms recently and they'd still allow him to play.

Well they signed it at the first of the season I believe. At least that is form they are talking about in the article ( I think) .. But nonetheless I have heard of people suing for a lot less. I think I have heard the American Judicial system compared to a lottery for some people here on this site. However the suing thing is not really a huge factor here. Its refreshing but the real story is the tragedy and how the family dealt (is dealing)with it.

The suing thing is big in Canada, as well as the States. It is another story if people actually are successful in winning the lawsuit. What a lot of people don't realize is that even if you sue and you have no chance of winning, if you sue for an excessive amount of money it will often make the newspapers. If it makes the papeers it is easier for the big companies to just pay you off.
