Default Priest Charged With Hiring Hitman to Kill Teen Accuser

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/1..._n_787877.html

Quote:
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- A Roman Catholic priest has been arrested on charges that he solicited a hit man to kill a teenager who had accused him of sexual abuse. Authorities said John Fiala first offered the job to a neighbor, who blew the whistle and helped police arrange a sting. They said Fiala got as far as negotiating a $5,000 price for the slaying before investigators moved in.

The 52-year-old clergyman was arrested Nov. 18 at his suburban Dallas home and jailed on $700,000 bond. In April, he was named in a lawsuit filed by the boy's family, who accused Fiala of molesting the youth, including twice forcing him to have sex at gunpoint.
The jokes pretty much write themselves. How long until the Vatican realizes something legitimate actually needs to be done about these guys?

The Vatican IS these guys.

The more this happens the better. Religion is removing themselves from relevancy one child molesting priest at a time.

The sad part about these cases is there probably only catching a very small percentage, I knew a fellow that it happened to and he wouldn't say a thing about it to the cops.

I also know of two child molestation cover-ups within a certain christian religion, one of which is in my family. The victim in my family only recently came forward about it now that she is in her late 30s.

If anything, this is an anti-anti-christian thread. Or are you claiming pedophilia is a christian trait?

More like an anti-pedophile priest thread.

So you are hoping more people get molested just so religion might go away?
You do realize these pedophiles would probably still be pedophiles even if they weren't priests.

But if they weren't priests I highly doubt their employer would be supporting them if they were molesting kids at work by relocating them to a new location with a fresh batch of kids.

Would love to have heard the conversation with his neighbor and how that went down.

So take away the fact he was a priest. A guy hires his neighbor to murder a kid who is accusing him of molestation.

This isn't post worthy?

Must be a great neighbourhood if you think your neighbour might be willing to do a contact kill.

"Hey, thanks for loaning me your lawnmower. It really helped. Watch the Flames game last night? Oh, by the way, interested in killing someone for money?"

I'm always shocked by how little these "hits" seem to go for. I would have doubted that someone in suburbia would kill someone for $5,000. Maybe a crackhead might do it, but jeez, $5,000? I thought killing someone was worth more than that!

How much would you charge? I mean assuming you didn't have any kind of moral opposition to it that would make it inconceivable.

$20 000 per hit. If you start offering around services on the cheap, you don't look legit. Some guy offering to do it for $5000 is an amateur - don't hire an amateur, hire jammies: Calgary's #1 professional pest remover.

When the news broke that Mike Danton was arrested for hiring a hitman to kill David Frost, did you make a post saying, "OOO...ooooo.oooo another anti-coach/agent thread"?

Semi-OT, the wife and I recently discovered the Catholic channel on Sirius satellite radio. Since we were both raised in Catholic families, we've found it to be a constant source of amusement. Did you know, according to a commentator we heard last week, that "no group in American history has suffered more persecution than Catholics"? That's an exact, word-for-word quote.

Let's figure out how compensation for any job is calculated:

1. Unique qualifications
2. Education
3. Experience
4. Time commitment
5. Responsibility
6. Risk

That's all I can really think of for now. So based on my criteria and applying a possible 10 points for each line item, a hit would break down kind of like this:
1. Unique qualifications
  • Yes, I think a person willing to do this would be uniqually qualified so they get say a 10/10.
2. Education
  • None, so 0 out of 10.
3. Experience
  • It would be an asset, but not required. Let's call it 5/10 for a newbie.
4. Time commitment
  • Minimal, I'm sure. Let's say even if it took 24 hours of planning, doing the act, then covering your tracks...and maybe we'll even add another 16 hours too account for unforseen events, etc. you're only really looking at the equivalent of one week of work. I think we can call this 1/10 which would be generous compared to a full-time, year-round job/contract.
5. Responsibility
  • Quite large. I'm giving it a 10/10.
6. Risk
  • Enormous. 10/10 for sure.
So this job would get a 36/60. $5000 for one week of time works out to a salary of about $240,000/year assuming four weeks off a year. I think that's pretty fair for a 36/60 job, even though at first I thought $5K was pretty low, too.

I should have clarified, I mean the more these young people come forward the better. Obviously I'm not hoping for more kids to get hurt, but if they have, they need to speak out.

That's assuming work is steady, though. I don't imagine hitman get a new contract every week, so to earn $240k/year, they'd have to charge more than $5000 for each job.
