The Meaning of Dog Barks

Cool little quiz on PBS's Nova site. I'm a dog lover...got 100%, pretty easy though for anyone around dogs.

Did anyone else catch the show on Nova...Dogs Decoded? What an interesting show. I've seen a lot of dog programs but this was one of the better ones. It really gave insight as to how they interact with us. Pretty good evidence showing that dogs (brain that is) have evolved to the point almost exclusively to communicate and interact with us, even more so than with other dogs.

Unfortunately I see the show isn't available to stream on the site. You'll have to keep an eye out for the repeat if interested. Nova repeats quite a bit, so shouldn't be to tough to catch again.

Got 100 as well, it's amazing the little things you pick up after you own a dog. I probably would've only gotten half before my dog.

Yeah, I don't own a dog and I only got half. I'm a bird and cat person.

I got one wrong but got it on the second guess. I definitely know my dog and his different barks though.

There are a couple of torrents out there or "Dogs Decoded". Search around or let me know if you need a hand!

Brutal! I only got one right on the first try. I swear I'm still a good dog owner though! I can tell what my dog wants from her barks and actions. That's a pretty neat test... I'll be sending it to other dog owners I know and hoping they do as bad as I did!

I didn't do very well either. I actually trained my dog not to bark because she used to sit on the deck or at the front window and go nuts. She only gives a quick bark to get let inside now (6 years later).

I did very poorly ... I can't even figure out my own dog's bark. He sounds the same whether you hold a tennis ball or accidentally step on his leg.

I also did poorly. None of my dogs have been barkers. The Dude would whine/speak and you could easily understand him.
