PM'd old buddy KG in the Bruins organization and came up with a 1 for 1 deal offering Daniel Briere for Ryan Smyth.

The deal basically broke down to the need for more strength on the RW side of my lineup and certainly Smyth provides that.

Pretty easy trade for me to make. Earlier this morning I was looking at how my roster is doing in the NHL - Marty Reasoner was my top scorer at 166th overall. That was pretty disappointing, so when Cheese PM'd me it really was a no-brainer.

Smyth was playing lights out in the CPHL but Briere is still a good scorer at the NHL level (58th overall - 13 points in 15 games) and he is two years younger, so I went for it. I also got a 3rd and 0.5 in cap for this year.
