Default Holiday Shopping...

Thought I would make a thread on holiday shopping this year: great deals, interesting stories etc...

I saw a great 2 car stand-off for one parking spot yesterday at Cross Iron mills yesterday. Prime spot closest too doors one poor young lady is frantically jamming all her packages plus seating two kids and folding up the stroller as fast as she could. Meanwhile two a$$hats one female in a Cadillac Escalade and one foreign older gentleman in a small honda civic keep inching closer and closer to this spot both with there blinkers on vying for the same spot. The lady starts honking and giving the other guy the finger while he shakes his head and laughs at her. Woman trying to steal the spot then gets out of her car and starts yelling at the mom in how to properly back out so she can obtain the spot. In the end the guy in the honda got the spot and it was some warm wishes of a great holiday season for all!

Why on earth do people go to this mall? Seriously. It is the biggest crap hole on the planet.

I rarely set foot in a mall since I started using to Internet for everything.

My blood pressure has been much lower because of it.

I don't understand why it is imperative for someone to get the closest spot to the door as possible. I usually look for the sport farthest away. Less hassle, and I really don't mind walking outside for a few minutes.

Yeah same here. It's annoying being in the car with someone as they spend a couple minutes looking for the closest spot. In those minutes, we could have parked and walked in the store.

Definitely, internet shopping is win. I'm done my holiday shopping already, gifts are being shipped to my door as we speak. No lineups, no a-holes, no screaming kids, etc.

I've never really understood the need to buy friends / family lavish expensive gifts at Christmas. I would rather just get together with the important people in my life and enjoy the time together.

Maybe I'm out to lunch on this one though...

My wife made me go to Sears on Saturday to exchange something and get some kids snowpants, as it was on our way from something else. So I am standing arund not thinking too much about things but then notice lots of signs 40 and 50% off. Turns out the whole store was 1/2 off. Then you hear things over the intercom, like buy a clothes washer and get the dryer for free. Had I been more on the ball and could actually think of something I needed I would definately have got it. Next year I will plan better, and go there again. clothes, snowblower, furniture, tools, electronics, suit, lots of stuff I could think of, now. This black Friday thing will probably happen everywhere I would think, next year, like the Bay etc. if they are still in business.

Some things still need to be tried/tried on before buying. The mall has it's place in the world.

Besides, the Mall and Grocery Stores are (imo) terrific places to pull numbers. Women are either shopping or thinking about food.....either way, they're generally in a good mood.

With those rhyming skills I am surprised you don't pull numbers more often.

The immediate family still buys gifts......but it is not a competition! Consumerism isn't generally a problem with our family though, so everybody takes it pretty cool.

Several years ago, my group of friends started throwing gift money ($20 or $30 bucks) into a pool, and we throw a killer Christmas or New Years party. 20+ people enjoying booze, food and fun is WAAAAAAAY better than any trinket.
