Tonight the Yanks and Red Sox square off in an opening day battle. This is the only game of the day, then the rest kick off tomorrow and Tuesday. Sportsnet has a season preview at 5 our time, and then the game will start at 6. Should be a good one.

I am excited for the upcoming season. I am baseball starved. Usually hockey is able to hold me over, but I didn't even have that this year.
For those wondering, the Blue Jays first game is tomorrow afternoon at 4:15 eastern against the D-rays. I believe it will be aired on Sportsnet.

phew, the Jays won't have to face that juiced up Alex Sanchez tomorrow.
I've always been a casual baseball fan, but will likely follow it a lot more this season thanks to no hockey. Or, at least until the CFL season starts - 81 days until kickoff (Stamps are closer to 90 days, I think)!

2:00 GMT, what an atrocious time to start a ball game.
Don't they know I'll still be in school?

Sucks eh?
The whole first month has a wacky schedule. A big series next week against the A's isnt televised at all. I don't know how stuff like that happens.

A lot of teams have afternoon games to open the season - I think its a tradition thing.

Indeed.
Tradition had the Cincinatti Reds playing in the first game of the season too, and that was shot all to hell a couple years ago...

It really seemed to me like alot of HR's were hit tonight,
31 homeruns total in the 10 games played. Just seems like alot to me for some reason. I have no idea how that compares to normal.

Holy crap, after watching all the highlights, I'd have to agree. Lots of yacks all around tonight.
I don't have any stats on me, but thinking back over the years, I'd say the average amount of homers hit in a game has to be somewhere around to. The average was over 3 tonight. So yeah, quite a few.

No clue. I'm going to hold off on smoltz for a little bit till his value drops like a stone, I'll pick him up when he gets his groove back
No, I've got another trade on the books, which I *hope* will be accepted.

lol, I am just floored by Smoltz today. I thought at worst he'd last about 5 innings giving up around 4 runs.
I don't know whether I even want to give him another chance.

If you aren't giving him a chance, I'd be more than happy to take him off your hands

I'm sure we can get something done.
I still like Blalock, interested in Dunn too.

Blalock is available, but not exactly straight up for smoltz.
Dunn is untouchable atm. 2 HRs in his first game, looks like hes going to have a HUGE year.
I sent you one.

As it appears this thread is turning into a Fantasy Baseball thread, I have a question for Kobasew_07.
Are you willing to part with Vernon Wells? I'd give you Sheffield. Straight up, or we could package something together. Let me know.
