Default Staph infection

I've had this infectious boil growing on my hip for a week now and finally the hospital took me seriously and got me in for IV antibiotics. I'm now on a home IV unit for the weekend atleast. Has anyone had any experience/tips with this type of situation? How long did it take to clear up? etc.

1) Yuck

2) Get someone to buy you some Dettol and a bunch of Mr. Clean. Keep your house extremely germ free for the foreseeable future (even after the infection has cleared up).

3) Yuck.

Is it Folliculitis or Carbuncles? Both are commonly transmitted to people from tainted hot tubs/jacuzzis. You are quite lucky if you only have one break out site. It is very likely that you will experience permanent scarring from the infection site.

It is important that it be drained out- did your doctor mention this?

The antibiotics should kick in fairly quickly and you should be symptom free in less than a month.

My dad had these all the time on his neck and butt.

Don't worry, he died 7 years ago, so I am sure things will turn out fine.

Ya its real nasty. Just one spot on the hip so don't really care about scarring. Its from a rug burn at the soccer center.

Ya, you better drain that sucker. Proof that mamma telling us to clean/disinfect our cuts and burns was a good idea..

Infected friction burns, leading to boils, are also common on male genital organs- which is why it is important to foreplay and turn the lady on before you toss 'er in.

I have had a few infections like that, the most recent was bad and a year later it still looked like it could reappear in the same spot. I knew exactly what was happening, since a few of my old training partners also had some type of staph in the past few months. I thought I had the flu or something, then this thing appeared.
Can be a big deal, you need to treat it. If treated, they seem fine and go away.

Oh yeah, I began treatment when it was just a reddish mark, sorry to see yours so bad.
