Default Behind the Scenes on Nenshi's Campaign

This is simply an astounding piece from the Herald today of 72 hours with Nenshi before election day.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Ca...943/story.html

I'll warn you, it's an extremely long read, but it's also extremely good.

Calgarypuck and beyond are both mentioned in the article as well. We're "hyper-engaged" people!

My apologies. Beyond and CP were the only ones that caught my eye.

Yeah they stuffed us down near the end of the article, it was a VERY good read.

A volunteer named Jeff arrived late to the party. Jeff had knocked on doors. He had handed flyers out in front of big-box grocery stores. He had talked about the better ideas on the SkyscraperPage forum.

Kermitology, that is one of the best post-campaign articles that I have ever read. I'm very excited for Nenshi as mayor of Calgary.

I love the title. It sums up exactly why Nenshi was the best candidate. He spoke in full sentences.

For people who just want to read the Calgarypuck shoutout.

Quote:
The hyper-engaged on calgarypuck.com,for instance, strongly championed Nenshi, as did their counterparts on the automobile discussion forum beyond.com.It was the first time in their life they knew a campaign was transparent because, well, they had become the campaign, and surely they had no secret agenda.

^ Certainly his capturing the support of the so-called 'hyper-engaged' online, including from sites like this and SSP was a key strategy.

Really great piece. The best so far at capturing the dynamics and strategy of his campaign. Certainly this will be remembered as one of the most brilliantly executed campaign in Canadian political history.

Proud to say I was his first official donor and volunteer for his "Better Ideas"!

So, when do the dump trucks with the gold pavement start showing up in front of your house?

Cool article. If you go through the photos, I was at the meet and greet house party. By that time he was pretty much preachiing to the choir. My highlight was getting him on video saying that he'd sell Enmax for 5 bucks and falafel.

Here's a pic from the same night.

The campaign director's goal from the beginning was to have detailed conversations with what he describes as "hyper-engaged voters," the people you go to the week before an election and ask, "Who should I vote for?" (The hyper-engaged have very little agenda beyond being annoyingly right.)

This may need to go in my sig.

Too bad they got the website address totally wrong - hope you are looking for a job and not info on cars.

very good read. Anyone notice Nenshi isn't updating his website and facebook page anymore. I wonder how he is going to be communicating with us hyper-engaged ppl going forward. He did run a campaign to improve city communication with all of us afterall.

Well he is updating his personal Facebook page, but I guess you gotta be friends with him to see that.

Oh yeah, and he is still going strong on Twitter.

Also a good ending quote from the article. Now that the fun is over, the real business starts, and his hyperactive supporters need to make sure that he stays on course with his message. Don't let him become Obama and throw all that goodwill away.
