Default Help Finding a Shelf

I'm looking for a shelf to go under my TV when I wall mount it. I'm looking for something close to this style that will surround the PVR/Xbox to keep the cords hidden. Anyone know of any options besides this specific one? I've checked out the Jysk and Revolve websites with no luck, and I'm not too sure where else to look.

I had the same problem. Thing is, even with the huge amount of selection out there, it's hard to find the exact thing you want. I had to make mine.

I was going to wall mount mine until I read that the TV should not be any higher than the top of your head when your looking at it. (when sitting, apparently your eyes strain if they have to look up at all)

Those TV's mounted above a fireplace mantle are ridiculous. IMO

I'd make it as well. I'd use some of that solid pine shelving stuff you get at RONA/REVY and some biscuit joints. Router in a space for a solid back panel and you have a good strong unit that you can screw right in to the wall studs.

We have two TV's mounted over Fireplaces. I like both installs. The one downstairs is great for the Wii when your playing and when watching movies your far enough away that eye strain isn't an issue. The one upstairs is great because our kitchen is elevated and we are on a level veiwing angle from there. My wife isn't crazy about the elevated viewing angle from the room below but the fact that we have no cables exposed far outweighs that. To each his own I guess.

I would just take a sledgehammer and embed it right in the wall. Go for that 'do it yourself' decor look...

What I've seen done that's a really good idea is mounting all your units in the wall so the face of all your components are flush with your wall. Of course you need to either have really wide walls or an adjacent room that's not being used for anything other than storage. It's also a great way to hide all the wires.

I have my tv above my fireplace and all my components in my stairwell so you can see any wires or any units. makes for a nice clean look in my living room

We have our tv mounted on a double articulated swing arm mount above our fireplace which is in the corner of the living room.

The TV looks like it is floating in the air all by itself.

Having the TV higher up means you can recline or lay down to watch tv without having to bend your neck.

I like it IMO.
