The boyfriend and girlfriend team that won the first leg of the race falls apart in the second half when the girl basically gives up under her mates constant abuse.
The old folks finish in 5th after finishing in last place and losing all of thier cash and possesions in the first half
Rob and Amber finish second and further raise the anger of the resident gay couple, who screwed themselves with the taxi stunt.
All in all this 2 hour episode was great T.V., domestic fighting, a car accident, Timmy falling down a well, and bitter catiness from all contestants.
I've never watched this show before this year, and I'm hooked now,

I'm not such a fan of Rob and Amber as I thought I would be.... their stupid little 5 second here tricks might be good in the short term.... but someday something will go wrong, and there will be no one that would be willing to help them... hell they got really lucky (even though se seemed like a plant) in the market....

What is Rob talking about when he complains about the way Alex and Lynn play??
That is totally a move he would have done himself and he complained about it for the rest of the episode. More reason for me to hate him and hope for their loss.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was something about that apparent fire or whatever in the south.

Does Rob remind anyone of Carson Daly?
And was anyone else hoping he would roll their land rover?
I loved tonights show... lot's of action and twists, and who doesn't love a good foot race.

I disagree, his 5 second tricks worked well today moving them from the bottom half of the cut to 2nd.
Its also apparent that Rob and Amber were going to get very little help from the other teams from the start, and Lynn and whats his face bought it down on themselves.
If I was driving along in a race for a million dollars and saw one of my competitors flipped over, and another team pulled over to help. And they were waving frantically at me, I would have kept going, there's no reasons to stop.
I don't think they got lucky in the market, they got a guide for free, and used it, out of all of the teams, they've taken the best advantage of strangers, the bus driver with the door, the guide tonight are good examples of it.
But he did get pounded in the spear chucking contest.

Geez I had a Simpson's flashback when they started a episode by demolishing the Springfield casino.
Construction foreman - "time to implode the building"
Demolition man while pushing the plunger to blow up the building - "Implode, I thought you said explode"

This is the first eppy of The Amazing Race I have watched since season 2 I think. Although I knew I was missing something good just didn't watch it. But I'm hooked again.
Rob is a perfect reality show contestant. He gets it. He's ruthless, entertaining and has a ton of good one liners that make for good reality television.
I really like the fact that there are consequences (having your $$$ and stuff taken away) for losing a stage that doesn't count for elimination. Is this a recent rule change?

Rob & Amber were foolish. They could easily have done a drive by "Is everyone OK" and not have lost more than 20 seconds and not have incurred the wrath of everyone. I wonder if Rob would hope people stopped to help if it was Ambuh crushed under the Land Rover. Seeing how he doesn't like the taste of his own medicine, I suspect he'd be livid. Although I think Amber's sly smile when Phil mentioned the cameraman puts her at the top of my hate list.
Don't forget, R/A are pretty much reality show whores now.... public opinion counts to keep their "appearance fees" flowing in.... otherwise it's back to construction and secretary life for both of them! The public can turn and ostracize contestants too....just ask Omarosa!
I wonder if we'll see R/A's notoriety backfire against them at some point... someone local citizen they run into deliberatly screws them and says....that's for being a dick Rob!
Good on Gretchen for soldiering past that upper body injury! How did she fall anyways? She's still the sptting image of everyone's annoying Aunt but she didn't fold at adversity like a lot of other contestants. Her joke to get money from other teams cracked me up. The losing your posessions thing is new this Race, and I'm curious to know if that means you lose them for ALL the Race, not just this leg. I'd be stopping by at el cheapo tourist stands for t-shirts with my extra travel money - they always seem to have more than enough.

They do lose them for the rest of the race. Phil said somrthing about that when he scammed their gear. I can't imagine. That'll be tough, especially when they get dirty and or soaking wet.

I dunno, I'm almost thinking it's a bit of an advantge not having to haul a gigantic pack around everywhere. Sure, you can't brush your teeth or put on deoderant, but whatever. You can run way faster and shouldn't get as tired. Besides which it is "reality" TV, where contestants most likely spend an hour in the makeup chair before heading out on the next leg of the race.
Isn't the show sponsored by underarmour or something? Wouldn't that basically take care of your shirt needs? What else do you need? I'd be stealing socks from Rob, and brushing my teeth with Ambers toothbrush.

I'm glad Phil called robandamber out at the end of the episode. "so you didn't even stop?" hehehehe. I think Phil was about to cry when he asked the old people for all their posessions. I was hoping he would ask gretchen for her head bandage and stitch too. hehe
I have watched all 7 seasons and one thing i'm still confused is, do they have to drive the speed limit?? I'm sure the camera guy can monitor that, but i mean if they dont' what if they smoke some innocent pedistrian? I would definately drive 140km everywhere!

Okay now I get it. There were two episodes.
I saw the Oldsters give up their stuff and I switched off the TV. I thought it was over. What a dummy I am.
If this happens again would one of you clever lads fill me in please. I am obviously too hopeless to look after myself.

This seasons race isn't as good as the previous ones. Theres no real team that you can cheer for. I can't wait until Amazing Race 8. It's a family edition with 4 members of a family racing. hehe. I can totally picture huge fights!
