From Wikipedia:

Clenbuterol - "It causes an increase in aerobic capacity, central nervous system stimulation, and an increase in blood pressure and oxygen transportation. It increases the rate at which fats are metabolized, simultaneously increasing the body's BMR."

"Jacinto Vidarte, Contador's publicist, released a statement saying the cyclist insists food contamination is the only possible explanation."

Sure Contador, food you ate that was contaminated with a substance that increased aerobic capacity and increased oxygen transportation (and other things). Where can other cyclists find this "food"?????

I've never liked this guy.

This is a big surprise.

They should let them all dope and then we can see who has the best chemist.

He has a new line though. He claims it was a result of contaminated meat!

I'm far from an expert, but it doesn't even sound possible to me...

Stupid thread title. If all sports tested as much as cycling does, you'd see a lot more suspensions than cycling currently gets.

I'll wait until the investigation is complete before I throw Contador under the bus.

Only track, MMA and NFL would come close.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/30/sp...armstrong.html

People inside Lance Armstrong’s inner circle of friends and colleagues are being called to testify in front of a grand jury investigating suspected doping and fraud in professional cycling, raising the intensity of the inquiry into the possibility of Armstrong’s involvement in crimes while he rode for the United States Postal Service team.

Another former Postal rider, who did not want to be identified for fear of retribution from Armstrong, said that every rider on Postal was aware of the doping that occurred on the team — particularly among the riders who rode the Tour and other top races.

This spring, Floyd Landis — who won the 2006 Tour but was stripped of the title for doping — publicly said that he participated in an organized doping program on the United States Postal Service team and that Armstrong and other Postal riders did, too. He has filed a federal whistle-blower lawsuit against Armstrong and other principals of the United States Postal Service team, claiming they defrauded the government.

good link here. It doesn't look good for Alberto, even if it was "accidental".

If there is a resolution, we may well see evidence of DEHP levels presented in a doping case against Alberto Contador. We may see the back-analysis of other riders’ samples in other cases. Indeed, the federal officials in charge of the investigation of alleged past doping practices on the U.S. Postal team have already suggested that might be an avenue they now wish to explore.
