I'm looking forward to the new Disturbed album as well, and looking forward to seeing them on the Uproar Tour in September. That will be my third time seeing them live.
I think the sound of The Sickness and Believe is different from Ten Thousand Fists and Indestructible.
...and anyway, criticizing an album before even the first song is released is a little overly pessimistic.
Yep, I think every good band has something in their sound that makes them unique from other bands but are still able to make albums that sound different. Every album since The Sickness has that. You know it's Disturbed but it still doesn't sound like the last album.
I took a peak at their discography. The CD I have (and which in the car at the moment) is Believe.
I'm an old timey whole album appreciation kinda guy so I appreciate the input. I'll get Ten Thousand Fists the next time I'm looking to fill my cart enough to get free shipping.
That CD was released 6 years ago...wait, all their music sounds the same.
And this is coming from someone who semi-likes them.
I've never really understood this criticism.
When I buy a band's CD, I expect a certain sound. The last thing I want is a band like Disturbed to "evolve" their sound. Songwriting perhaps ("waaah I'm mad at my parents, they didn't buy me enough toys") but the sound is pretty damn good.
Would people prefer it if every artist changed their sound every album? Perhaps the new Disturbed CD is more and experiment in electro-pop synth with classical overtures...

Exactly. Disturbed is uniquely Disturbed and I don't want them to change. Their music has evolved and grown and no two albums are alike but the sound is what identifies the band.

I'll bet you're getting a plain Timmy's.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

An example of my saying, listen to Judas Priest. Every album sounds different, every song sounds different as they don't just use the same 2 strings in every song. But you can still tell it is Priest.
I can always tell a Disturbed song, but they all sound too similar to like an entire cd, it just gets repetitive.
