Default Seve Ballesteros near death

Sad. The man had just retired when he was diagnosed. Great golfer.

I was in Greenville SC yesterday for a function and one of the guys there was a relative of Gary Player who has a home in the area IIRC.

We were outside getting some air as it was a really warm place and got to talking about golf and whatnot (tiger was the initial topic) and he mentioned this. I knew that Seve had been ill....but no idea it was to be fatal as has been described. This guy was almost in tears as he described the man he knew for years...since he was a young man.

Terrific golfer and from what I learned, an amazing human.

bloody awful...I remember a young exhuberant Seve breaking into the tour...he brought a "style" to the game that is missing today.

You should change that to Seve Ballesteros - Dead.

Yeah...really too bad. Golf channel is going heavy on Seve right now. (no pun intended)

Very sad news to wake up to. Growing up, I was enraptured by his magic and charisma on the golf course.

Before instructional tapes came about, my dad would record tournaments on our gigantic VCR and try to copy Seve's chipping style.

Sad

He was an amazing match player. The man could get up and down from Mars if he had to. An incredible thrill to watch in his prime.

That just did a moment of silence in Madrid prior to the Federer-Nadal match.

I wonder what they'll do at the PGA tournament later.

Not fun watching Nick Faldo break down on live TV.

Yeah, for a lot of years this guy was European golf. He would seemingly singlehandedly will those European teams to wins at Rider Cups that always seemed like big upsets.

Sad day in the golf world.

I was not and am not into golf, but Seve was a legend with a great skill and personality that appealed to people outside the game. He seemed a genuinely nice guy who was unspoiled by his immense skill and success.

Aw man..just found out. Loved Seve, All of those great up and downs he pulled off at Augusta were truly inspiring, and definitely encouraged me to take up the game. The sporting world has lost one of its best.
