Hurricane Earl Heading for Atlantic Canada
Batten down the hatches Maritimers. Could get fun down here tomorrow night. Hurricane Earl is tracking to hit Friday overnight.
some of the models show it coming right over here in Saint John.

If anything comes of it I will try and update. Going up to the Cottage to take the boat out of the water tonight.

Last I heard Grand Manan is where it will make landfall but that the heaviest winds would be to the east of there (i.e. southwestern NS). A lot of the models on stormpulse are showing it track a little further east of Grand Manan and coming in at Yarmouth which could bring the higher winds closer to Halifax. I'm going to start bringing stuff in tonight instead of rushing to do it tomorrow night.

My sister just moved to St. John's on Thursday. Hopefully it's fairly weak by then.

Wow if it's going to get to you guys that soon it's moviing a lot faster than I thought.
I just heard some interviews with people who refuse to evacuate the OBX.
Some of those houses are uninsurable due to location.
I can't wait till Nov 30!!!!!
Good luck up there. Hope it ends up being just a rainstorm.

I'm currently in Halifax and was supposed to be heading up to Fredericton on Saturday. Looks like Earl is going to prevent that.
People here are freaking out (oh my God another Juan). As a Cape Bretoner who wasn't in Halifax during Hurricane Juan, oh my God shut up about Juan already! If that wasn't bad enough, if it's snow it's White Juan!!! Shut Up! Shut Up! Shut Up!
My plan for Saturday night is now drinking downtown for my buddy's birthday (any Haligonians feel free to join me)

I'm in Halifax for a wedding (well, it was supposed to be a wedding before the bride backed out and cancelled it all...)
Should be pretty interesting. It's crazy hot here right now and as far as we can tell, we'll be experiencing some heavy rain and high winds come Sat. morning. Hopefully we don't lose power.
But, like the southerners in the states, we're excited to have a hurricane party.
I'm going to take some piccies tomorrow and do a before/after thing after it hits.
Thankfully we're in a big hotel and don't have any property here to worry about.

We're going pub hopping tomorrow (Friday) night downtown and ending up at the casino. If you're around at one of them, I'll wear a Flames shirt to make myself noticable

I heard on the radio this morning that we should expect 40-70mm of rain, sustained winds of 80 km/h with gusts 110-130. They were also saying that it could move a little further east of the current forecast which could mean more wind and rain for us here in Halifax.

They updated the Tropical Storm watch to a Hurricane Watch for Halifax this morning. Should be interesting around here tomorrow. I was living in Toronto for Juan so I don't have that as a benchmark.
MQS - no notice about you being in town. I'm hurt!

HD - I didn't think I'd be here this weekend, I planned to move the better half in to her new apartment, and then head back to Fredericton on Saturday.
However that seems to have changed, Old Triangle on Saturday!

I've been out surfing the east coast all week, just got back to Halifax this afternoon.
We all agreed that if the hurricane hits, the only thing we can do is drink our way out of it......so we bought lots of rum and chips. Mainly rum.

That's not the Haligonian way, the Haligonian way is to complain about Juan in fear (sorry HD, but it's true). However it is the way the rest of Nova Scotia prepares. Me, I have beer in the fridge and I'm ready to go!
