Just thought I would pass on the sad news.

A Yellowknife firefighter perished yesterday morning in the line of duty when the roof collapsed on him.

Youing man of 24, married and less than two weeks on the job. Apparantly he is newly arrived in town from Calgary.

Getting tired of walking by a local school here in town and seeing the flags seemingly always at half mast.

News brief can be found here:

My girlfriend knew him quite well and says he was the biggest Flames fan she ever met.

Man no offence but I find that comment is just completely inappropriate...There's a firefighter who lost his life on duty serving his community here, show some respect...

RIP...and best wishes to the other injured firefighter for a speedy recovery.

As a matter of fact it does, I'm a Roman Catholic. Flame away with your atheist-left comments.

I didn't say the phrase itself was offensive, I'm saying this is a horribly inappropiate thread to be talking about the victim's family in the manner that you have done.

Well I'm Roman Catholic too, and I realize Jesus is just a word. Watch:

Jesus Jesus Jesus Jesus... nope, no lightningbolts or locusts or anything freaky like that.

My comment wasn't disrespecting the guy at all, and it would be akin to if he had a 3 eyed cat. I would have probably said.. "wow.. he had a 3 eyed cat! Isn't that strange."

It isn't a huge deal Hulk, but it's just.. the guy just died.. bigger concerns then the fact he and his wife weren't the same age.

True, but I could point out how incenerators name, and signature are very disrespectful to a good guy that just burned to death.

I guess it might be because I had already read quite a bit about this story before this thread was posted so I had already gone through the thought processes of how sad it was to lose a husband/kid/friend that way, and now a side detail of the story struck me as interesting. The fact that thinking of anyone in my highschool graduating class being married at the time is interesting to me doesn't seem like its totally disrespectful to the guys memory.

Oh well, I'd probably get jumped on for saying janitor instead of caretaker or caretaker instead of custodian by some people, so I guess its no suprise this gets people upset. I'll leave the thread now so it can be used to honour his memory.

Sure, if you're Professor John Nash you could do that.

Ok, who the hell cares what age the wife is. The thread is about a firefighter who died. Let's get back on topic.

My condolences to the family. Although huge risks are involved, a job should not have to cost people their lives.

What a tragic story, and a tragic loss of life. My condolences, and best wishes to his family, friends, and co-workers.

Just heard on the news that the other firefighter involved in this incident has now perished. A father of five children, he had been on the job for twenty years.
