Goodbye Nectar Desserts :(
http://www.nectardesserts.com/
Quote:
Nectar Desserts is Closing its Doors
We are sad to announce that this is our last week in business. Our lease is up, and owner Rebekah Pearse has made the decision to move on to new opportunities. We will be open for the rest of this week, including our Tea Party on Sunday, after which time Nectar Desserts will be no more.
If this news seems sudden, please know that up until the beginning of this month, we had no intention of closing or leaving Inglewood, but events unfolded in such a way that we had to make a split decision and that decision was to close our doors.
We will continue to operate our normal hours for the rest of this week, and we will do our best to make sure that all of our signature products remain available.
Our equipment and furniture are up for sale, for those who are interested in purchasing a piece of Nectar, we welcome private inquiries during our regular business hours.
Pre-purchased items can be picked up on Monday, August 30th or Tuesday, August 31st between noon and 8p.m. We will also hold a public sale for unsold items on these days. Please note that all sales are final and the transport of all purchases must be arranged by the buyer.
On Monday August 30th, we will be distributing our 2010 Nectar Fruitcakes.
We have 180 large fruitcakes at $40 each.
We expect them to sell-out quickly, so purchase yours now…
THERE WILL BE NO SECOND CHANCE!!
If you have upcoming orders or reservations with us, please know that we will be in touch with you, and we intend to refund any deposits or prepayments for commitments we are unable to meet.
Last, we’d like to thank you, Calgary, for the last four years. It’s been a wild ride, but allowing us to create such a special place for you made it all worth it.

That's too bad. They had wicked scones.

Good. That place sucked. Annoying service, and I had them admit they screwed up their own recipes twice (when I thought dipping fruit into straight oil was an odd thing to do).
Hopefully Inglewood gets something better to replace it, because it's better having a ty dessert place than no place at all.

Dude, the fruitcakes are ridiculously good. That fruit has been soaking in bourbon since January.

That's too bad. I enjoyed Nectar the few times I have been, but I generally only get there about once a year. So, it isn't a big impact to me. Unfortunately, Calgary doesn't have too many dessert places. Losing one of the decent ones is a hit on that front.
