This deserves a bump, even though it's sold, because it shows the type of people that are in this community.
I received this gift certificate from my parents as a birthday gift, but as my boys' hockey season rolled around, we realized we were tighter than usual, and not sure how we were going to pay the fees. I was seriously stressed, then I remembered the gc and thought "we can take the boys to a Stampeder game some other time, I'll try to sell it and see what I can get."
So I posted the gift certitifcate for sale, and within about an hour I had a call from the member on CP named "Homestand" (I won't use his real name to respect his privacy), who I'd never met, or even talked to before. He called and said he would take the certificate for $300, and he didn't want the discount. He said he would just apply it to his season tickets when the time came.
I was shocked, and I argued with him for a bit, because I didn't feel right not giving him some sort of discount for helping me out, and he said "we'll talk about it when we meet up". So I go and meet him, and he hands me three $100 bills...so much for "talking about it".
I gave him the certificate and thanked him several times. I explained how needed this was and he said he was just happy to help out. I explained how the money was going to help pay the hockey fees, and he explained that he sometimes doesn't go to Stamps games, and if there's an opportunity in the future, he'll let me know and let me use the tickets to take the boys to a football game.
I just found this to be a pretty touching gesture, and wanted to share it, and say thanks again. It made me feel really good to know there are people like that still out there.
