Conservapedia: E=mc2 Is A Liberal Conspiracy
In case the far right couldn't become more batsh*t crazy, well I give you this.
Quote:
The theory of relativity is a mathematical system that allows no exceptions. It is heavily promoted by liberals who like its encouragement of relativism and its tendency to mislead people in how they view the world.[1]
|
Quote:
See, e.g., historian Paul Johnson's book about the 20th century, and the article written by liberal law professor Laurence Tribe as allegedly assisted by Barack Obama. Virtually no one who is taught and believes relativity continues to read the Bible, a book that outsells New York Times bestsellers by a hundred-fold

Far right? It's a wacko homeschooling dad! Most of the articles are written by his kids. Anyway, it's a sweet website. Good for a laugh.
Also, great article.
Quote:
To many conservatives, almost everything is a secret liberal plot: from fluoride in the water to medicare reimbursements for end-of-life planning with your doctor to efforts to teach evolution in schools.
|
This is more laughable than some of the stuff on Conservapedia.

People like you have to realize that there is going to be some pretty wild plurality of opinion in a democracy. There's nothing scary about this website. It's just idiotic.

Man you've been sooo condescending lately, is it that time of month or something?
What's scary is your not seeing the obvious polls on views that are held on places like conservapedia.
Conservatives tend to deny evolution, the statistics support this. They think global warming is a liberal conspiracy, statistics support this.
Mistrust in science is worst in the conservative people in the US.
If you look at our conservatives in Canada, they are very far away from being anything like the US counterparts. While they would share a lot of political ideology, those in Canada tend to scoff at the social conservatism and the craziness we see in their behavior.
There is a massive problem of anti-intellectualism and anti-elitism coming from the right in the US.

Watched this on Rachel Maddow last night.
Just when you think the right can't suprise me anymore
These are the same people who have seen a birth certificate and still say show me the birth certificate.
That country is so far apart now it will take a major war to get them together again.

Alright - listen up, Mr arugula eating elitist science boy.
To quote Conservapedia:
The existence of two symmetrical kidneys, which are unnecessary in most people, lacks a plausible evolutionary explanation based on functionality alone. Because evolution falsehoods mislead most people into thinking they need their second kidney, "the average waiting time for the organs from a deceased donor in the United States is five years" and "3,916 patients waiting for a kidney in 2006 died before one became available."
Isn't it becoming obvious yet? 2 kidneys = 1 God.
What more proof do you need that science is wrong and is a plot cooked up by the liberals to force us to help the poor and give them health care? Jesus would want none of this fascism!

I love this argument. Simply because the argument used against evolution, supports giving to the poor through heathcare. If you don't need the kidney then shouldn't you donate it to those who do? Jesus would want you to help your fellow man, Jesus taught to help the poor.
Simply awesome logic! Awesome!

Same fools that are told by conservative politicians that Arizona's crime is getting worse (dropped by 12% over previous year) and that Phoenix is the kidnapping capital of the world.
Just tell them what they want to hear not the truth, despite the facts.
Times are tough blame the lowest people in your society for it.

I guess in Iceland they group everyone of one political leaning into the same group and then generalize that group based on one persons opinion. I am glad I dont live in iceland (my finances also thank me for that).

My son has one kidney. His other cystic kidney was removed when he was three years old. Two kidneys were very necessary in his case. He will lead a normal life with the remaining kidney, thank goodness.
This is actually fairly common. Many adults today are walking around with only one functional kidney, unaware of the situation. This is detected now by ultrasounds, but was not really screened for before.

The guy is a complete tit, no question.
It still amazes me that people would even consider listening to groups that are commonly referred to as the 'extreme-right' (or left for that matter).
What do people think "extreme" refers to, participation in the friggin' X-Games? It means that they've skewed and distorted things to create a heavily biased version of reality.

Would you prefer to listen to someone who is extremely right or extremely wrong?
Yea. That's what I thought.

Extremely right or wrong is a redundant phrase. You either are right or you're not.

So Thor thinks that conservatives are dumb and liberals are smart, but then posts an article which is absolutely ludicrous in it's reductionism and fervent anti-"anyone who disagrees with the status quo progressive view."
Silly.
Anyway, if we want to get into the whole science thing and what conservatives think. I am generally in agreement with the development of the scientific theories of evolution and climate change, my skepticism lies in how these theories are applied almost holistically to human nature and politics.
Any debate on climate change has to start here, for example.

It's the wicked combination of a population that lacks critical thinking skills in a country where there is little to no regulation of media, elections, and marketing. The expectation that an American of average intelligence working full time would be able to understand who is right and who is wrong from the blitz of lies and misinformation is completely unreasonable. Nobody educates or protects them.
The anti-intellectualism and anti-elitism spreads from the Republicans' very shrewd idea. Step 1: Take away education spending for military spending or for funding of corporate interests. 2. Tell the people they are just fine the way they are and call the liberals pretentious and elitist for trying to "change" them. It's brilliant marketing and it's absolutely despicable. This works for a plethora of issues. Of course, it falls apart when people are faced with economic problems.
