DQ Miracle Treat Day
Hey gang,
Just a reminder that today is Miracle Treat Day at your local DQ in Canada. Proceeds from any Blizzard purchase is going to help the Children's Miracle Network Hospital.
Personally, I've spent too much time in the old Calgary Children's Hospital... more than anyone should ever have to experience, and we've relied on the new one here and there with our little one. This is a big day for me to help out where I can, including hyping it on a board filled with stangers.
I'll also be at the Airdrie location from 4-5 today... extra toppings to anyone who comes up to the guy with the beard and glasses and says "The Sky Is Blue, The C Is Red".
Like you need a reason to buy a Blizzard... but buy one today, please.

For any weaklings out there, they have the new Mini-Blizzard for $2.99 too.

Speaking of the Children's Hospital, anyone ever hear the story about how when they origianlly planned the new Hospital they designed it to look like a child from above, but then due to budget cuts they had to reduce the size of the hospital, and so they just chopped off a leg, so now the Children's Hospital looks like an amputee child from above?
Don't belive me?
http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=calgary+child rens+hospital&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=41.287156,78.837891&ie=UTF8&hq=child rens+hospital&hnear=Calgary,+Division+No.+6,+Alber ta&ll=51.074538,-114.148732&spn=0.004887,0.01369&t=h&z=17Speaking
Yup, you can even see where the other leg would have been, but is now a nice lawn.
Creepy.
That being said, good job getting this out Prototype.
Blizzards and a good cause? Sounds like a win win.

Shouldn't they just say "The Sky is Blue...", then you reply with "The C is Red".

Are we talking all proceeds or a portion, or just the profit?
edit:
Just as an FYI, looks like DQ also has 99c burgers on for today only (per the sign).
(no im not that dumb)

It's all proceeds. I believe this is different from last year which was indeed just a portion of the proceeds. With the massive markup on Blizzards, there should be a sizable donation on it's way to the Hospital.
I know I'll be getting a cookie dough Blizzard later tonight.

Well, we had a bad rain fall here... so it could just be some random mentioning that the sky is back to blue. Looking out for CP Nation.

I will be getting one, there is one only 2 blocks from me up centre street so.
Why would they design a tax payer funded hospital to be shaped like a kid when looked at from space - its no wonder the health care system pisses money away.

Cool story bro. Maybe if you had gone to the Alberta Children's Hospital, you'd be more likely to suck it up and buy one today?

I once had a similar experience with alcohol. It was not 20 years ago. And I have been back.

If you're going to have a bunch of wings coming from the hub of the complex, why not shape the wings in a unique shape? It didn't exactly cost them any more than putting them in boring places. God forbid we make something imaginative or unique.

We are currently taking our prenatal classes at Alberta Children's Hospital. It's a beautiful facility that I hope to never see the inside of after our kid comes around.
I'll pick up a Blizzard on the way home from work today. I know Cheryl Bernard was making Blizzards at Olympic Square at lunchtime - wish I could have made it there.

I'm just thankful there's no LRT going to the hospital, otherwise my kids would have to be treated along with the hordes of poor children.
