Default School zone change

FYI so there is no road rage:

Starting this upcoming school season, all school zones in the City will begin 30 minutes earlier - so 7:30 instead of 8:00.

Good. Many schools begin at 8:00, so the school zones in those areas would serve no purpose in the morning.

People drive 30 in school and playground zones half an hour before they're supposed to start anyway, or at least when I'm behind them they do.

There will be a small sign posted under the main sign that says "year round school". Those guys don't start for another 2 weeks I think.

Should get rid of school zones and build high brick walls to keep the kids on school grounds.

It's funny cause you're Asian!

And its sad because if you drive by Bishop Carroll regularly, you probably aren't joking...

Hmmm good to know. I drive through a couple school zones every day. Police will probably be out to collect some nice tickets

Weird all the signs in my neighborhood already say 730am. Maybe they changed them as soon as the school year ended.

Some Catholic schools are back today. Other schools on a modified program start in a couple weeks. This is why the signs have already changed.

Yeah I was just a little confused by the article. It says for the "upcoming school year" and then proceeds to say that the change takes effect immediately because some schools start in a few days.

To me upcoming school year means September not 6 days from now.

I never understood why they don't just make them Playground Zones. Seriously.....how many schools (elementary schools in particular) become desolate wastelands when classes let out?

Separating Playground and School zones is stupid.......more rules to remember/follow that don't really need to exist.

Crazy talk. Just because half the ######s on the road can't differentiate, doesn't mean that I can't. So as long as I'm not stuck behind one of the people that can't, I'd prefer not to go 30 by an abandoned school in the middle of summer.

Playground zones are stupid. What kid is playing until 11pm?

Tonight sunset is at 917pm. WFT kind of parent lets their little kid play in a park until almost 1030 at night.

And OTOH, during winter they're done at 5pm. Both extremes are ridiculous. Should be something like 9am to 9pm.
