Question Flames black and white pics

I’m hoping cp can help me out

I was looking on ebay for flames stuff and found a really cool black and white flames team pic called ‘fire on ice’….

I contacted the seller and he informed me that it’s part of a series of black and white pics the flames did a few years back. He has other prints so I asked him to supply pics of them, but apparently it’s too hard to snap a photo of them and e-mail it to me – so I’m hoping that some of you might have these prints hanging in your games rooms and wouldn’t mind taking a picture of them and posting them here

There are a total of 4 pictures in the series and they are called….

Beat Them in the Alley
Fire on Ice (pictured above)
Building for the Future
Road Trip

Thanks

I have Fire on Ice and I have Beat Them in the Alley.

I believe Beat Them in the Alley was the first of the series, and as far as I am concerned, the best.

Guess Rhettzky was a bit quicker.

Is one of these the one with Al Mac in it? I seem to remember that for some reason, Al Macinnis dressed up in some silly clothes in a group picture.

really? in that one and the building one, the team looks like the Village People. probably a good thing they aren't in color

I didn't know these were actually prints.

I have the copies printed in the Calgary Sun back in 1995 (I think. It was the same year they did the Saddledome renovations) but unfortunately didn't store them well and so they are yellowed and crinkled.

I have fire on ice and beat them in the alley, one signed by Fleury but I forget which one. I would be willing to sell both if there is an interested buyer.

Yes, that is Beat them in the Alley. If you look on the front left hand side of the picture Big Al is the one with the bandana and sunglasses on his head sitting on the motorcycle.

Al MacInnis is in the first two for sure. In Beat Them in the Alley, he is sitting on the first motorbike on the left. Gary Roberts is the next guy sitting on a motorbike. Next are Bear Cat Murray and Joe Nieuwendyk, sitting, not on bikes. Theoren Fleury is standing right behind Bear Cat and Nieuwendyk. Dave King, the coach at the time, is sitting on the big motorbike. I thought that's the best Dave King ever looked)))) And sitting on the last bike to the right is Sergei Makarov.

Here is a better picture of Fire on Ice. Al MacInnis is the guy holding the jaws of life.

There were other NHL teams doing a quintology series of prints at this time as well. I think any of these things are like sequels to movies. The original is a great concept, each sequel thereafter gets kind of chintzy. At least that is how I feel. So for instance, for Fire on Ice, they start to put fake soot etc on their faces. And I think the silliest of all is Gary Suter, sitting at the wheel of the firetruck in a cowboy hat!!!

^^ I remember being uncomfortably embarrassed by these back in the early 90's. They haven't aged well.

I think that the Oilers, Canucks and Flames all had these. Maybe the eastern Canadian teams too, not sure...

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Beat them in the alley.... Dave King reminds me of Eugene Levy's character from a scene in Armed and Dangerous.

I like the first one of the series, Beat Them in the Alley and actually, they do look better if you see them in actual size. The actual prints are about 18" x 24" in size, larger with the border.

The NHL teams made a lot of money from these quintology series, at least relatively so for the time in which they were taken and sold.

The Flames printed enough for each seat in the Saddledome at the time. Both of mine show over 20,000 printed and IIRC they sold for about $30 each.

So is it you that I'm always trying to bid against? eBay makes me spend way too much money on random Flames stuff.
