I'd figure I'd challenge all of you to do things that I want to do, but have no reason to do them. Now all of this stuff is basic, but they're little things that have been bugging me for the last little while, and I would like to do them.

ASSIGNMENT #1

Go to your movie collection, and watch a movie a) that you have purchased, but have never seen before, b) have purchased, but haven't seen in a very long time c) get someone in your home to pick a movie for you to watch, and give a little review of said movie.

Now, if you are one of those that don't purchase movies, feel free to go to your favourite video rental store, and rent a movie you have never seen before, or one you haven't seen in a long time, or have an aquaintence or a staff memeber choose a movie for you.

If none of these options apply to you, watch a movie on TV and give your review.

If still none of this applies to you, go away... we don't want your type on this challenge.

Please refrain from movies that are still in theaters. This kinda goes hand in hand with the "Favourite Movie" threads that pop up around here from time to time.

Due Date: Monday, March 21 (Which is when the next challenge will be posted. Feel free to complete before due date and post.)

Wow.

Good idea, but no thanks. I started work at Rogers Video on Monday, and this is the EXACT "homework" I got from them! And it's due on Friday!!

Sorry, priorities. :P

No one is holding a gun to your head. Like I said, it's something that I have been meaning to do, but no one has realy called me on it. Personally, I'll be watching Shawshank Redemption and One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, both of which I own, and have never watched.

Rockstar, I worked for both Rogers and Blockbuster... I highly recomend Rogers over BBV. There are limits at Blockbuster, and now with that No Late Fees nonsense, I would hate to work there again. I had some good times at the Beddington Rogers.

Rabbit-Proof Fence . . . .

In the 1930's in Australia, half-cast Aboriginal children were taken from their families and put in orphanages to be raised so they could be civilized.

Kenneth Branagh plays the white architect of this official government policy and admits confusion as to why his efforts are resisted by families and children alike when he's only trying to turn them away from savagery.

In a re-make of a true story, three young sisters, the oldest one about 13, the others under 10, walk away from an orphanage and begin the long trudge back to their home, about 1,200 miles, using the fence that runs the length of Australia to stop the rabbit scourge as their only guide through the vast and inhospitable wilderness.

The film traces their journey and the frantic efforts to find them, capture them and return them to their orphanage, as well as the people who help them a bit and some dangers they faced.

A cool thing at the end, which doesn't spoil anything to tell you, is the real "Molly" and one sister, in their old age now, standing alone in the outback.

Just a great film in the underdog tradition, well made, well told and you'll like it if you were fond of The Snow Walker, a Canadian production.

Coincidently today, I actually just finished reading the book for the second time.

I liked the book better than the film (which is pretty much the case 10/10 for me, so I don't know if that means anything or not).

Great story I will agree.

Makes you realize that every government and every country has their share of skeletons in their closets.

Now is time to figure out a way to make amends, in the search for redress.

My review is for "There's Something About Mary."

This movie is the heartwarming story of a mentally challenged young man named Warren, and his search for his lost baseball. Full of suspense and emotional ups and downs, the viewer is taken on a dramatic journey as the main character deals with go-carts, masturbation, and batting cages, to mention only a few of his experiences. As Warren struggles with his loss, he begins to ask his friends and family questions about the lost baseball, such as "have you seen my baseball?" I won't give away the ending, but I will say that Warren asserts himself quite nicely, and that his sister's boyfriends will probably want to refrain from offering him baseballs in the future.

I give it 3 and a half baseballs.

Monty Python and The Holy Grail

King Arthur goes in search of knights for the round table, then they receive a quest to find the holy grail. Before last night I had never seen this movie before. To get myself out of the bad books of my co-workers I watched the movie. They over hyped the hilarity of the movie and I was rather dissapointed. I was expecting non stop laughs and did not get them. There were some funny moments where I did laugh but I didn't think the movie is as good as people had been telling me.

Rating: 3/5
