Default Donating toys

I'm in the process of cleaning out the basement to start framing and finishing it. I'd rather avoid the hassle of a garage sale for a bunch of little stuff but don't want it ending up in a landfill.

Does anybody know a good place to donate or recycle this kind of stuff? Mostly stuffed animals, dishes. I've got a ton of books and magazines, but I know the local recycling depot takes that.

I'm in Cochrane, so anywhere in town or NW Calgary would be preferred.
