Default Sony Bravia TV Startup Sound

I'm wondering if anybody knows the answer to this- I recently bought a Sony Bravia TV and when you power it up along with the "Sony" splash screen there is a tone; sounds a little like somebody dropping a stone into an electronic lake.

Does anybody know how to disable this? It's relatively loud; especially in a small room like a bedroom. I've looked all through the menu and also online, but have not come up with anything.

You could probably permanently disable it by hurling a real stone through the digital pool it projects.

Well, that didn't work. Not only does it still make that sound, but there's a big gaping hole in the screen. I may need to purchase some more fluid for the "Liquid" Crystal Display.

Oh, and I called Sony. Apparently I'm not the first one to complain, so they are working on a firmware update. So if anybody else has this and wants to get rid of it call in to complain; I would say the more people that complain the more likely it will get updated.

Dummy Question: What's a firmware update?

I have a Samsung that has an annoying startup/shutdown tone that I'd also like to get rid of.

It's the opposite of a software update

What exactly does a stone in an electronic lake sound like? Can you skip these stones across the e-lake?

I've got a 1-2 year old Samsung LCD with that startup "chime".

There is a menu option for it's volume level, which can be set to Low, Medium, High, or Off. It shouldn't take much searching to find.
