Default Tool bar moved

My tool bar, if that's what it's called, has moved from the bottom of IE (please, no lecturing about using IE) to the right side. How do I move it back to the bottom? I also use Firefox.

I'd try to right click on the tool bar (task bar), click properties and look for task bar location on screen and choose bottom.

It's IE 8.0. I tried right clicking in the tool bar area but under properties and elsewhere I can't find where I can change the tool bar's location to the bottom of the page. Thanks for any help.

I assume you are referring to the taskbar and it has nothing to do with Internet Explorer. If it is the bar that has your start button, open programs, and clock etc on it, then follow the instructions below. If you somehow have another toolbar on your screen that doesn't have those items on it , that you have moved to the side of your screen then take a screenshot of it and post it here so we can figure out what it is.

This will be different for different versions of windows.

Either:
Right click the bar, make sure it doesn't have a checkmark beside the "lock the taskbar"
-or-
Right click the bar, click properties and make sure that "lock the taskbar" is unchecked

Then take you mouse, place it on the taskbar where there isn't any other icons and press and hold your mouse button. Then move your mouse to the bottom of you screen, and the taskbar should move with it.

this is the key defining point for something to be user-friendly for me. If I can click it and just drag it where I want it AND it works, it's friendly.

This goes for all things computer, I am always impressed when I can just drag stuff into other stuff and watch it work.

That did it. Problem solved. Many thanks, bud.
