Depends on what state you live in.
But in Alabama you have to be 21 and have a clean record. So by not being a convicted felon, Mentally handicapped, Sex offender, Dishonorable discharged from military, You just go in and in about 15 mins of paper work they give you a gun.
Now, You can put the pistol in the trunk of the car and leave it locked up and no ammo around and your fine.
To Get a CCP you just have to submit $20 to the sheriff department and they do a background check on you and once you pass you get a conceal permit where you can carry it almost anywhere that you want loaded as long as it's concealed.
Long rifles and Shotguns you only have to be 18 to purchase and pass a similar quick background check and the weapon is yours. You just follow the same safety stuff with it being locked up and in the trunk when you are on the way to the firing range and the ammo has to be in a different compartment and you're legal.
I should get my CCP any day now since I signed up for it on tuesday.

TBQH I think that falls under Long Rifle.
It has to be a single shot. No fully auto weapons unless you have a class 3 license.
I love shooting the ar-15 .223.

It's definitly an interesting thread idea. I'm not sure there will be many other people posting pics, though, considering it's a canadian dominated board.

I just got my restricted license about a week ago - thinking of going with the FN Five Seven pistol. Any comments on it?

I thought that in canada you can have rifles for hunting but pistols where highly regulated.

True, but I don't think owning a gun is quite as common up here

Some people take it way over the top here.
I will carry my pistol when I go into areas that are not that friendly like Atlanta, Birmingham, NOLA. But it's sitting in my night stand locked up with no ammo to be found.
I own them because I enjoy target practice. I shoot skeet with a .20 gauge because it's harder to do than a .12 gauge.
I just enjoy the art and skill it takes to shoot something 100 yards away out doors with 2" groupings.

The Five-seveN is a nice gun, if you don't mind dealing with the weird cartridge size. It handles very well and has a lot more stopping power than the 9 if you're looking for a personal carry weapon.
Myself, I prefer the good 'ol 9mm. Decent all-around performance and it's cheap to shoot. My next gun will probably be a Walther P99, but in the meantime you can't beat a Glock 17.

Redliner,
Woods and water down here in tuscaloosa has a Walther pk380 for $299. I am thinking about getting it also. But .380 is hard to find down in these parts.
I am still thinking about getting the Ruger LCP .380. It's alot smaller than an XD9 but doesn't pack as much punch if I need it. But since it was a heat index of 102* today it will be easier to conceal.
My PT111 isn't that big really. Alot smaller than the XD9. I wouldn't mind a .45 though.

They are real wood. I swapped them out for thinner G10 composite though.

I appreciate you posting a pic of your gun PIMking.
Is that a Ruger? I don't know pistols well....
I don't have pictures of mine, but I do own two guns, and umm, yeah that's it...
I have a Remington 870 Express 12Ga. pump and a Ruger 10/22 .22 rifle for vermin...
I love 'em...
