Crazy people @ 6th avenue and 1st Street

There are two guys who stand on opposite corners of 6th avenue and 1st street (one outside of Suncor although he doesn't seem to say much).

They both have placards, one use to say Canadian Jewish Defense League is corrupt. Now, one of them says SILVER BULLET.

I usually take my earphones off to hear the guy so I can figure out what they're talking about but I can't understand what he's saying with all the street noise and his broken english. He sometimes hands out little pieces of paper.

Can anyone tell me what they are selling or accusing people of, or what conspiracy they believe is going on?

You have to think to be out there nearly every day, they must be pretty passionate about it.

The Jewish Defense League, if I can remember correctly, is against bringing in prominent pro-Palestinian figures into Canada to give speechs. There was only a few months ago a pro-Zionist education week that also hosted Canadian MP's, which has pissed off the Muslim / Palestinian community. The Jewish Defense League, for lack of a better explanation, has an amount of sway with the Federal government.

I don't know if this is the exact reason (probably not), but that's the only reason I can see this being an issue for this guy - the JDL and the Feds have linkages, which does help explain Canada's (subtle) support for Israel.

I could be wrong though.

And I see dude everyday when I go to work as well. He stands there every morning and just holds out little leaflets that nobody takes. I think he's barking up the wrong tree; he doesn't seem to be having too much success at his chosen spot.

Sure sign of a big city. Most bigger cities that I have visited have a few people like that preaching their mind about something. Next time you're in Toronto, pay a visit to Dundas Square outside of Eaton Centre and watch the opinionated ones mingle. Good fun.

Anybody ever seen the old black guy out front of Toronto City Hall? He wrote on the sidewalk "I AM A MASTURBATER" and stands there with a stick. He then points at you with the stick, which draws your attention to the message on the ground, and then he looks at you and goes "You know what I'm talking about, and you're having as much fun doing it as I am" (and then laughs his ass off, especially when women are walking by). He is my new favourite Canadian crazy.

I actually took one of his leaflets. Here's what it says:

Canada it is time to stop the corruption of the Jewish Defense League of Canada.

Blame the drunk Ralph Klein and his administration and the voters for the sad state of education in the Canadian Province of Alberta.

i. the quality of education that Albertans receive is only good enough to save the lives of rats.
ii. When it comes to teaching about the saving of thousands of lives of the mentally ill at the UofC. The UofC is teaching theories that are 40 years old and which has never worked.
iii. the only help that the mentally ill receive in Calgary is a police cruiser with a nurse on board to pick them up off the street only to put them back on the street because there are no hospital beds and there is no medical help available.
iv. Premier Ed Stelmach and all the MLA's put together do not have enough of an education to care for the seriously mentally ill people in Alberta.
v. We are survivors of the German Nazis we recommend that the Jewish Defense League of Canada get educated at the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
