Default Earthquake in Toronto

Just felt a 15 second tremor in Toronto at the office (29th floor). Confirmed that it was felt across the GTA, Ottawa, Montreal down to New York.

Probably too early to ask, but where is the epicenter?

Isn't it rare to have earthquakes in that part of the world?

Wow! We just felt a rumble here in Ottawa for what must have been at least a good 10 seconds. I live in a very small apartment building, old, so thought that the building had an explosion, a vehicle hit it or something. Ran outside with other tenants, find random neighbours outside as well. As best we can tell, it was an earthquake. Apparently not that uncommon here.

Google/twitter appears to suggest that was likely it as well.

Must say it was pretty crazy feeling, and scary at the same time with my little 11 month old daughter here!

There are reports of unusual ground shaking in various parts of Ontario, including Ottawa and Toronto. The Toronto newsroom of The Globe and Mail shook just before 1:45 p.m. EDT. The Ottawa newsroom was evacuated.

Various reports on Twitter suggest the earthquake was felt as far away as Ohio, New York and Michigan.

The earthquake shook buildings in Ottawa, where the streets are crowded with office workers who evacuated their workplaces.

...

The shaking lasted about 15 seconds, Mr. Choquette said.

My first thought on reading the thread headline was that Burke managed to pull off a trade to get his 1st round pick back or what not then realized I wasn't in FoI and decided to see what really happened.....

Was it jarring enough to make Guelph the new center of the universe?

Sounded pretty fierce in Ottawa. Here in Toronto, the 100 yr old building I am in (6 floors) was swaying back and forth quite a bit. creaking.

Apparently, Ottawa-Gatineau got hit with a 2nd one shortly after the first one that we felt in Toronto.
