Default NDP pulls out of Afghan detainee records talks

The NDP is withdrawing from negotiations on the release of uncensored documents relating to the transfer of Afghan detainees.

New Democrat representatives emerging from a Tuesday morning all-party meeting said the deal on the table is too narrow and the party can't support it.

There is no word yet on whether the other opposition parties will continue the process or whether the NDP will move a contempt of Parliament motion against Prime Minister Stephen Harper's Conservative government in the House of Commons.

The Liberals, Bloc Quebecois and Conservatives have reached a deal on the handling of sensitive Afghan detainee documents -- although the NDP walked out of the talks.

....

Fife said it isn't clear specifically what the NDP objected to in the deal, but "the consensus with the three other parties was that they were not happy with the way the NDP handled these negotiations."

So the Bloc agreed but the NDP didnt.

Lets say that again, the BLOC Quebecois whose sole purpose in life is to destroy the country we currently call Canada reached a deal, but the political grandstanding NDP didnt? Ok.

Also, instead of "Franchise Player" RH25 should get a special CP designation as "First Line poster of Canadian News that no one else would ever bother posting"

I would assume that the NDP adopted a unwinnable all or nothing front in the hopes of being able to declare the government in contempt.

Looks like they failed.

Ha, I'd go for that. I don't know, just a bit of a political junky I guess. also interesting to see what types of stories fall off the page he pretty quick, and what ones seem to stick around....
