The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a splash in the offseason, again.

GM Prototype had no idea when he picked up the phone on Wednesday, it would be the LA Kings new GM SweetDoc on the other end.

After going back and forth with a few ideas, the two teams, and the league, agreed upon a blockbuster deal.

To Toronto:
Ilya Kovalchuk

To Los Angeles:
Benoit Pouliot
Oscar Moller
Boris Valabik
1st 2010 PHX (8th Overall)
1st 2011 TOR

It's a deal the Leafs couldn't pass up, getting one of the purest scorers in the game today for the youth the team has been building up this off season.

This deal means there's no room for a bunch of players in the plans for the Leafs '10/11 season.

Mike Knuble, and Filip Kuba will not return with the club, and can be moved for a draft pick (late 1st, ealy 2nd for each).

Ya the Kings win this one but I have a feeling the league wanted to make sure BJ got a good deal for his first big one.

I hope Kovalchuk stays in the NHL.

Yeah I would say a pretty even trade, though it all depends on who LA picks with that top 3 pick in 2011.

I think this move is a really solid one for the Leafs. At the same time, the Kings shed a bunch of salary and will get a bunch of youth coming back their way.

Nice job Rob getting a superstar back on your team, even if you don't like having them!

Well, someone else used this term in MSN messenger recently so I assumed it was CPHL lingo...I suppose I was wrong....so....wrong.
