Lost dog in Prestwick - Update: FOUND!!
My dog Jake is missing. We left the house at about 7:40 last night and came home at 9. He went through our front window.
Have called all the hospitals, 311. Spoke with animal services and they believe they have a match at someone's house in prestwick but obviously wouldnt give me the address. They also said the people gave a phone number thats not in service. They said in their backyard.
Im really scared as these people would have my phone number as it is on his collar, and not sure why they wouldnt call me.
Goes by the name Jake

Not that I'm in Calgary, but you should post a picture and what kind of dog it is.

If they had ill intent, I don't think they would have phoned animal services and told them about your dog.
Most likely it's an innocent error in transcribing their phone number. Phone animal services back and say the number didn't work and ask them to track the people down for you (they have their names).
Also, I agree you should post a picture.
Good luck!!!

Reason: OP doesn't need the email and phone number there anymore.

I think this is a pretty easy case.
1. Man loses dog in Prestwick
2. Person reports finding a dog matching description in Prestwick
3. ???
4. Profit

Calgary Puck works in great ways sometimes. I'm sure he'll come home.

Have you called Animal Services for a second time? If you politely suggest that they try and look up the person's name in a directory, they might be able to determine whether or not the number was transcribed incorrectly.
Going through an intermediary is frustrating, especially when privacy laws make it even trickier. As Cowperson suggested, they probably have the best of intentions otherwise they wouldn't have called it in at all. As for your phone number being on his tag, I have noticed that with my dogs, one of the tags became almost unreadable over time because it was just engraved on and rubbed away.
But definitely give Animal Services a call again and just talk to them cordially and see if you can't convince someone there to do a bit of directory searching to see if the person's name comes up with a corrected number.

i have tried but 3-1-1 wont transfer me to them.
the tag isnt very old though and I paid extra to get the better engraving. I was just looking at it the other day and it is readable.

Hope that is your dog FKA. It's good that the dog had identification on it.
A couple days ago I rounded up a little bichon frise while I was walking my dog. This dog had no collar/tags but fortunately the owner was just around the corner. I don't know why anyone ever lets their dog walk around without a collar, even indoors. It really is stupid.
