i hate it when game franchises i really like get crapped on by hollywood. i just hope they avoid the Shepherd storyline completely, as the games already play out like an epic series so there's no reason to put them on the big screen. plus whoever they tried to cast as Shepherd would be a failure, as everyone has their own version of who he/she is. if they did something like the first contact war, it MIGHT not completely suck

Where's the Bioshock movie that Gore Verbinski was going to produce?
What happened to the Gears of War movie, oh yeah the budget got slashed drastically and they are now in a re-write.
How long has it taken to start Hitman 2 (Olyphant might not even reprise Agent 47 ).
My point is, they may have bought the writes to make a movie, but I doubt it is ever made. And if it is, it won't be as good as I am hoping.

There is a very strong possibility that you have made an entirely accurate assessment in regards to the venture of which I speak.

and this right here is what will ruin the Mass Effect movie. to do it properly it would need a massive budget, with all the aliens and space battles. and how could they justify that kind of budget when most people outside the video game world have never even heard of ME?

I usually don't pay attention to video game movies, but there is one that has interested me since it was mentioned. That's the METAL GEAR movie. I believe, if Kojima has the majority of the input, that this movie will be insanely successful.

The rumours have it being produced by Legendary Pictures, who was behind such gems as The Dark Knight as well as such "gems" as 10,000 BC.
I will say, though, they don't seem to skimp on budget, and if BioWare is known for something it's their pride in storytelling.

Very true, but they could market it towards the Star Trek demographic, and seeing as that had a big budget, and made a lot. I am sure Mass Effect would do the same.
I really hope Keith David reprises his role and is in the movie.

Heh, the Star Trek demographic. The same fanbase that eats itself alive regularly?

What I mean, is if Star Trek can do good in the box office, I am sure a Mass Effect movie could.

Prince of Persia comes out tomorrow. If it is a good movie AND does well, then there's hope for future movies based off video games.
