I would tend to say it can hardly be worse than Invisible War, but developers have a way of surprising me. The story looks good, but I'm not sold on the crazy robot hands and T-1000 sword. I suppose I tend to forget about the "light sword" or whatever they called it in the original though.
^^whats with people slamming Deus Ex 2 all the time? I loved it on xbox. I loved the first one.
I don't even game much anymore, but when Deus Ex 3 comes out, I'll be getting it for sure.

I recently played through DE1 again a couple weeks ago - it was still absolutely amazing.
Then I installed DE2. I got about 15 minutes into the first level until I remembered how bad it sucked. The game-play was way too linear in comparison with the first.
No DE games will ever live up to the awesome that was DE1 unfortunately.
Cool trailer though. If they bring back skills and add more specialization and ways to attack problems, then it hopefully shouldn't disappoint.
Also of note is that this game is being developed in Montreal, which will also be one of the locations in the game.

People slam Deus Ex 2 because the first one was so well done. The standard was set too high, and I'm afraid that the third may also suffer from the same fate
Invisible War suffered from console-oriented oversimplification. Your rocket launcher uses the same ammo as your shotgun? What? Shooting a guard in the head once just causes him to tell you to stop, but shooting him a second time really gets him angry?
Invisible War would have been a passable console shooter, if they had just called it Invisible War, and not included Deus Ex or referred to it as the sequel.
That trailer was the wost thing they could do for this game, as it's created expectations that the actual game will fall far short of.
As discussed here, the trailer was a pre-rendered CGI production that takes inspiration from the actual game's themes, tone and colour palate, but the actual game will have an illustrated, graphic novel look rather that the photo-realistic look of the trailer.
I predict that people who get psyched over this trailer will be sorely disappointed when actual gameplay comes out looking like Star Wars: The Old Republic

Nope.
Might be an old discussion & moot point as screenshots from a yesterday of gameplay looked like the trailer.
Looks like 1st person + 3rd person cover system like Rainbow 6 Vegas with the same art style as the trailer.
ARE THERE ANY MEMBERS OF THE ORIGINAL DEUS EX WORKING ON HR? No, but Sheldon Pacotti, Lead Writer on Deus Ex 1 and 2, is consulting on the story.
IS DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION AN RPG/FPS/TPS? Deus Ex: HR is FIRST person, but switches to third person for some contextual elements, after which it quickly returns to first person. DX:HR still has a component of action, a component of RPG, and a component of open-ended gameplay. You can play it the way you want - just as in the original game. If you want to be a stealth agent, or if you prefer to be a John Rambo, the choice is yours. You can play the entire game using combat... or you can play using stealth. Or, you can play the entire game going back and forth between both. The key is CHOICE. As the player, you are able to play the game the way you want to play it.
WHAT ABOUT COMBAT/COVER/STEALTH & WEAPONS? The game's main focus is not on combat - it's on you choosing how you want to play. The dev team wants to make combat and the actual mechanics of firing a gun better than it was in DX. Not more frequent, not more important, just better in the instances in which you will use it.
In DX:HR, stats have been removed from the act of shooting and instead relies on your ability to target with your mouse and keyboard. However stats have not been removed from you building your character or modifying weapons. There may be other examples of stats/simulation like this in the game, but it must be restated: combat is not more frequent than DX1, not more important, just better in the instances in which you will use it.
WHAT ABOUT MULTIPLE ENDINGS & REPLAYABILITY? Several endings are confirmed for Deus Ex: Human Revolution - each the climax of a substantial campaign. You won't be able to experience all the augmentations or weapons on the first play through - economy will come into play. Just like in real life - you can't have it all. You can play again and have new abilities, new weapons and these will affect your game experience, opening new areas. You can't have everything at once, since some decisions will mean that you choose to forfeit something else.
WHAT IS THE GENERAL STORY INTRODUCTION/PLOTLINE OF DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION?
Deus Ex: HR is a prequel and set in the year 2027 (before the events of DX1). One day, the path of Jensen's life is unexpectedly changed as a team of Black-Ops commandos break into his company's headquarters and (using a security plan from Jensen's own hand) a mass slaughter ensues. From there on out, Jensen is caught up in a conspiracy that's going to see him struggling for his life. The story and conspiracy elements are every bit a Deus Ex game and it will take the player around the globe. It's huge and the conspiracies are multi-layered.
i like that it's a prequel so you don't have to play the 2nd one to understand the story
The Following User Says Thank You to Hemi-Cuda For This Useful Post:
I'm interested in this game because of how much it feels like Blade Runner and I have longed for games in that kind of universe for decades. We used to have tons of great sci fi adventure games like that in the 80s and 90s but not for a long time.
Anyone playing this? I missed the preorder because the Internet at the place we rented for vacation didn't let Steam do anything, and now the prices are all jacked up.
US Amazon has them cheaper but I can't download through there, doesn't like my Canadian IP or credit card address...
Anywhere else that it's cheaper?

But certainty is an absurd one.
I started playing this and it's the first game that give me that great "exploring a real sci-fi city" vibe since the Blade Runner adventure game by Westwood.
I enjoyed the intro so much that I turned the game off and vowed I would not play it until I had triple monitors or even 3D set up. That may take a few months to find the right equipment and afford.
The other game I am looking forward to is Prey 2 for the same reasons.
