Default Tax Question

Just a quick tax question. My wife and I both did our taxes on April 18th. I got a refund and she owes. I got my refund by the end of the month, but she still hasn’t gotten a bill yet. We went through a small home based company. They E-filed it for us. I was not surprised that my refund arrived already, but we are concerned about her tax bill. It is past the deadline so we are aware that we’ll have to pay interest, but does anyone else find this odd? I received my NOA in the mail as well. We both also received our GST response from them. How is it possible she got the GST notice from them, but not the actual taxes owing bill

TIA everyone!

Did they e-file the both of you at the same time. Since you were getting a refund they may have efiled you immediately and waited to efile your wife until April 30th, since she was payable. In any event, if you are confident that they completed your taxes correctly. I would advise your wife to pay the amount the tax preparer calculated. You do not need to wait for her NOA. If you use online banking you can set CRA up as a payee and pay them that way. Pay sooner to stop the interest from ticking.

From what I recall, when I Netfiled my taxes, is that the instructions when you do so are that you will pay your amount owing within a week or something. It didn't say anything about waiting for a notice of assessment.

I believe that interest starts getting calculated immediately after April 30th as well. So I'd just pay it for that reason alone.

So, let me get this straight, Albert... This woman keeps you from poker, and she owes money to the Man? I'd re-think your selection process....
