Heat force game 7 after 5-1 win!
After those two brutal blowout losses here in Abby, I didn't think they could come back, but they always were better on the road than at home.
By the way Jon Rheault scored a hat trick in game 6 and is a spastic player to watch on the ice.
Good job on Duane Sutter's part picking him up for the playoff run.
Game 7 is going to be really exciting.

When is game 7 going to be scheduled? Whoever scheduled all their previous games with Canucks playoff games needs to be fired. If a Canucks playoff game is on, nobody would even want to leave their living room to goto the Abbotsford arena.

Game 7 will be in Rochester... But if the Heat can take it and get to round two I hope the AHL gets their heads screwed on straight and schedules the Heat games on the Canucks off nights....
This team got screwed big time in round 1...

Game 7 is on for Tuesday night.
I can't believe these guys are still in it! ECHL call up Jon Rheault scores Abbotsford's first ever hat trick, David Shantz getting it done in net and Backlund is.. well Backlund!! Go baby Flames go!
Hopefully David Shantz gets a fair chance with the Flames next year.

As near as I can tell Jon Rheault may be a free agent, so we'll see what happens to him. He was drafted by Philly but doesn't appear to be signed but than Hockey's future has him with the Kings.
How have the Heat been handling the big boys on the Americans such as Steve MacIntire?

Would be great for Lance Bouma to play his first pro game in Rochester for Game 7... any word on whether he will join the team?

Maybe, but Playfair doesn't really know the kid, the kid might not know the system, why screw with something that is working right now. He just finished his season with the Giants, he hasn't had any time to practice with the team or even meet anyone.
I would think we would see Gaelen Patterson before we see Bouma.

Pumped for this game. We all need to get more on the Heat bandwagon right now, hopefully they can take this series!

Jon Rheault has 5 goals and an assist in 6 playoff games and 5 points in the last 5 reg season games, nice pick up, maybe the flames will invite him to their tryout camp?

I just heard on the Fan960 that the Heat (Rank #7 in conference) are playing Rochester (Rank # 5 in conference) in the first round. WTF is that about? It's good for the Heat but why aren't they playing the #2 team (Wolves)?

The AHL playoff format is slightly different than the NHLs current format.
I believe its divison based. The #1 divison team plays #4, #2 plays #3.

It's not based on conference standings, it's based on divisional standings. This is meant to make for easier travel, although Abbotsford and Rochester ain't exactly next door neighbours.
Interesting to note the Amerks roster features Jordan Henry, who was Brett Sutter's best friend on the Red Deer Rebels under coach Brent Sutter.

Speaking of the Amerks roster, Mike York is a Heat Killer.

Wonder if an NHL team will take a chance with him next year

I wouldn't be surprised if the Fan picks the game up on the radio, otherwise available on the team website.
The AHL does webcasts of all games, but they gouge you on the price... $10 for one game.

Haha it's definitely a good thing. He's literally all over the ice when it's his shift. To compare him to a current NHL player I would say he's a mutant of Nystrom's energy, Ott's annoyingness, the head's up play of Bouwmeester, and the scoring touch of anybody in the NHL who is always in the right place at the right time... on steroids.
