Take your remaining $60, go out and get drunk.

Detox kits = Biggest rip off since bottled water.
Pick up some exlax and drink apple juice for a week and it's the exact same thing.

There is no data to suggest they work. If anything, it's more likely to be harmful.

Does Exlax flush away toxins too? I've heard detox kits were a rip off before but I wasn't to sure.

There's no such thing as "flushing away toxins". All you end up doing is disrupting your intestinal flora which can lead to some fairly significant problems.

Detoxification is bunk. It's all snake oil and quack medicine. There is no such thing as getting rid of toxins.
These quacks always throw around the word "toxin" and never explain what they are talking about. Your natural immune system, digestive system, and renal system take care of balancing the equilibrium of your body. Your body exists in a state of balance between concentrations of water and minerals and a host of bacterial life within you.
You'll do your body more good by eating right and exercising.

A laxative flushes everything away, apple juice (probably the most recommended) and other fruit juices have the acids to clean the walls of the colon. don't waste your money on over priced junk...they do the exact same thing and sometimes even less.
I should note to use a "mild" laxative not just name brand exlax, some natural powders are available for about $10.00. drink lots of water and juice and do it over time (say a week) and the results are the same as a $80.00 kit.
I do it about 3 times a year and it totally works.

This might sound like a dumb question but how long does exlax take to work? Should I take it when im at home and know I have access to a toilet? When I think of exlax I think of uncontrollable Diarrea.

There is no reason for you to take a laxative unless you are suffering from problems with digestion and constipation. A laxative will cause you to lose vital fluids (dehydration) and disrupt the natural processes and bacteria in your intestinal tract if you do it improperly. You can get intestinal paralysis, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, renal failure, etc.
Go when you need to go. Your body will naturally detoxify itself. Then when you hit the can, you flush away the toxins by pushing the lever on your toilet.

That's very very close to the truth, "toxins"? blah. bunch of crap, but you can clean the walls of you digestive system and make it work more efficiently. Heathy people with good eating habits have nothing to worry about but a person with fairly bad eating habits can really "clean" their system if they know how and it does make a huge difference.
It's basicly just human plumbing 101.

IMO, good human plumbing means eating lots of soluble fibre. Not taking laxatives as an artificial stimulation of your bowels which can cause some disorders or injury for some people.

The only "toxins" out there are the stupid dummies who pay money to buy detox kits.
You have a remarkably efficient detox machine that's been honed and perfected over the course of millions of years of evolution. Oh yeah, it's called your digestive system.

The moral of the story is:
1. Don't waste your money on detoxifications.
2. Eat tons of soluble (dietary) fibre in your diet. That stuff is the real liquid plumber of your body.
3. Drink plenty of fluids.
4. Exercise (if you exercise streneously enough to lose a lot of salt through your sweat, make sure to replenish your electrolytes).
5. Eat well (fruits/veggies & fish/nut oils). Watch your sodium and sugar intake as not to damage your kidneys/liver or cause insulin spikes.

Thats why I mentioned a mild laxative, a natural mild laxative will not come close to causeing dehydration. They are just bowel cleanser and they don't make you run to the can every 5 minutes. all these so called detox kits have them they just rename them and jack the price 10 fold.
BTW, never heard someone refer to poop as a toxin before!
