Default Recent Musical Binges

So, I've just recently been getting into Billy Joel. I procured his discography a few weeks ago and have practically been listening to him nonstop since then. This is just the latest in a series of "musical binges" I go on when I discover or become interested in a particular artist or genre. I've done it before with Queen, Indigo Girls, Toby Keith, and Brad Paisley. Another binge I did was an Indie/Alternative rock band one where I got pretty into bands like The Virgins, The Zutons, The Dudes, fun., Crash Kings, and Vampire Weekend.

I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else does this; I don't really listen to the radio that much, so I don't really have my fingers to the pulse of new music, which leads me to places like last.fm and allmusic.com to find "similar artists".

What's your latest musical binge?

It's been ongoing for years, but the Opeth catalogue keeps me busy.

"Treme" on HBO has led me back to New Orleans music, and the Led Zeppelin biography on A&E has me revisiting my Zep collection.

Bought 7 volumes of 9th Wonder "Lost Beats" from iTunes. Good to excellent stuff.

And I mean bought. With earned money. Not procured like a ######.

I do this all the time. The current one for me is Alexisonfire.

Saw them a couple weeks ago for a private concert thing and have had them on repeat on the iPod and car CD player since. I used to think it was only Dallas' voice that made the band, but recently started loving George's voice. The screaming is still melodic and the new sing screaming he's doing on Old Crows/Young Cardinals is spectacular.

I've been on a Darrell Scott binge for a while now. Great thing about Darrell is he performs so many different songs but put a different twist on each one, so they're never the same. He's got some amazing talent. Probably not the cup of tea for most of the CP crew, however.

My latest binge would have to be classical music, but who knows where it will be in a month

Joy Division. I finished reading "From Joy Division to New Order: The Factory Story" about a month ago and haven't stopped listening to them since. "Atmosphere" is such an incredible song.

The Tragically Hip. I recently bought yer favourites on iTunes and its been on a constant loop while studying for finals. I always liked the Hip but only really heard the popular songs on the radio. Now I love them!

The last one was after I 'procured' the Atmosphere discography. Not a huge 'rap' fan, but I didnt stop listening to it for a loooonnnngg time. Really good stuff, very different from your 50cent or Eminiem style of rap.
