Collection Agencies... Know of a good one?
Hey all,
I'd like to use a collection agency to recoup a bill from a customer who tried to skip out on the bill by doing a credit card chargeback after the product he requested had been faithfull delivered in full to him. It's not big enough to warrant going to small claims court (only ~$1,200.00) but big enough I want to make the point that he can't get away with it; plus a little pay-back to boot.
Preferably, I want to sell off the receivable for $0.60 to $0.70 on the dollar (or however much I reasonably can) and have them do the dirty work.
That said, anyone know of a good company in town to do just that?
Thanks,

When choosing your collection agency that you are going to use make sure to go with one that is signed up with both equifax and trans union for credit reporting as not all collection agencies are.

He's still on COD though.....*shakes fist*

Sounds good. Any chance either of you have a contact name there? If not, no worries.

before you send this to collection agency, first send the customer a "registerred letter" stating that if not paid by such and such a date it will proceed to collections, with interest.
You may find that the customer will pay with the warning, and you wont be stuck with .7 on the dollar.

the beauty of small claims court is once you have a judgement you can do neat things like have a bailiff take all their phones. they wont be able to run their business if clients cant call them. they will pay quickly at that point.

Get a company that phones the debtor in the wee hours of the morning. I hear there's one in Ontario that'll do that for you...

We're medium size or so; just under $100 mil in annual sales. I've got a call in to D&B and they seem interested. Good tip. Thanks.
Edit: typo

I see you found the number.....
You might have to be a member in order to use the collection service....I'm not sure though. They're actually pretty handy, if you subscribe to D&B you can pull up credit history on pretty much any company you're dealing with.

If youknow where he is....Call the police and bring charges of petty theft. Quickest collection you'll ever make.
