Default Finalist dies at World Sauna event in Finland

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-10904691

Quote:
The annual World Sauna Championships in Finland have ended in tragedy with the death of one of the finalists.
Russian Vladimir Ladyzhensky and his Finnish rival, Timo Kaukonen, collapsed after suffering severe burns. Mr Ladyzhensky later died in hospital.
The event requires participants to withstand 110C (230F) for as long as possible. The men managed six minutes before judges noticed something amiss.
That Russian-Finland rivalry is getting out of hand.

So when you show up at St Peter's gate, and he asks you how you died, do you say "Abject stupidity", or do you lie about a clash between you and 300 neofasict islamic bikers?

Was reading about this earlier this morning and was wondering who in the hell thought it would be a good idea to essentially stick some people in a oven and challenge them to cook longer then the other competitors.

Yeah, I was reading this too. It said that the other competitor was treated for burns. What a stupid, stupid competition!

Why is it most sauna's in north america say "do not pour water on hot rocks."

Isn't that the point of a sauna.

Fin's are obsessed with sauna's, I'm sure to them a death is just part of the risk in this high stakes game of sitting in a hot wooden room.

Hot sauna v. dry sauna. Quite different setups actually.

Hitler.
As a Jewish man I can tell you this. Most Jewish people can handle a good Jew joke.

Case and point:

Why does the Jew do after one of his friends leaves?
He checks the sofa for loose change.

However, Hitler cracks, just aren't funny, period. And usually when people are called out on them, some debate about what a smart mis-understood leader he was is sparked by the joke cracker.
